Spouses are unknown to each other before they start living together. In the period before they meet or live together, they might have spent about 20 to 30 years, each in his/her own way and would have developed emotional feelings and habits and hobbies and way of dealing with people , things and time. When they start living together , they may decide to live for the other person , but their own individuality will be there staunchly. If by chance , both their nature and thinking is of the same frequency , then the understanding will be better and their may be less or no conflict at all. However in most of the people , when they start living together, they have to face a person of different opinion about many things starting from food habits to dressing to spending time to sex etc. Now they really have to sit down together and plan meticulously about how they are going to bury the differences and carry on . However as it involves emotional issues , they may not be practically able to sort it out at one go . it may require a lot of patient hearing on both sides as well as a lot of discussions as well as arguments which may sometimes turn out to be a nightmare due to the emotional conflict. this is where some people decide enough is enough and go for divorce , as they feel that the person is more on the wrong and that they cannot change him/her and they themself need no change. If the marriage is to be saved , or in general , the marriage is to be retained for longer period , then both the spouses have to compromise or at lease postpone difficult decisions.
