iPhone 3G is the next generation smart phone introduced by Apple, expected to be launched in India around Diwali of 2008. Apart from all the features which the older iPhone version offered, this version offers several cool features which are mentioned below. In India, Bharti Airtel has already started the advanced booking for the phone. Details of pricing and availability is expected to be announced later. 1. Browsing speed: According to Apple, Web pages will load up to 2.8 times faster. This is very important as the websites are progressively getting graphic rich heavier pages. But Indian cellular networks are already overloaded with voice data, so how well would the iPhone will work for masses, still needs to be seen. 2. Better International Support: Apple is launching iPhone in more than 60 countries, backed by its multilingual keyboard you can virtually carry your new iPhone in many more countries. 3. New Applications: iPhone 3g offers interesting new applications and we will be come across many more as the developers come up with new innovations. Some of these include Sega Monkey Ball, eBay Auction integration, Loopt, Typepad, Associated Press and I am pretty sure we will soon have an integrated application for orkut and facebook. I will also look forward for new components from Yahoo, Google, Rediff and Wikipedia running on the iPhone SDK. There is also support for support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. 4. Digital Camera: The iPhone 3G will have a 5 megapixel camera. 5. 3G iPhone's Safari will likely have Flash support: This is a very cool add-on. Apple's Web site depicts an iPhone 3G rendering the Lonely Planet Web site. 6. Dimension: The new iPhone 3G will be slimmed down 2.5 millimeters. 7. GPS: It is widely expected that the new iPhone will have support for Bluetooth headsets and possibly even GPS navigation. In India, GPS may not work too well, may be in bigger cities. Contacts search is now available. Battery: Better battery life. 5hrs 3G internet surfing, , 5hrs 3G talktime, 10hrs 2G talk-time, 24Hrs Mp3 playback, 7 hrs video playback. MISSING FEATURES: Features which are most likely missing are multimedia messaging, copy-paste functionality and no USB for modem use with your home computer. Ms office is not supported. The back of the new iPhone is plastic instead of Aluminum.
