It is a wise thing to have Disability insurance. This is your best weapon in case something happens to you. This would help you get financial assistance when you are sick or disabled. With that in mind, there are important things to remember in case you have to avail of your disability insurance. Contact your insurance company immediately. Call them up to send you or fax you an insurance claim form. You can also check online and print out a form from your insurance company's website. Fill out the form carefully and don't leave any section blank. This would only slow down the processing of your claim. After sending the form to your insurance company you would have to wait for several days or even weeks for your claim to be processed. The processing time depends upon the details of your claim and the insurance company itself. If you think you have waited long enough, you can contact the company to check about your claim. If you feel the company is giving you some delaying tactics it may be time for you to seek help. Get a good disability lawyer to help you get your insurance claim. You can check a website which has a listing of lawyers who would be able to help you. Look for one who has handled cases similar to your case so that it would both easy for you get along well. Try to follow all advices your lawyer tells you. You have to understand and remember that the lawyer is there to assist you, but you have to do your part in this claim.
