If you have a growing family, you must always be thinking of ways about how to make ends meet. You have many expenses like house bills, school fees, grocery bills, medicine bills, gas bills and maybe a few more expenses that appear now and then. This financial problem may put some stress on the family. Although both parents may be working it is still an advantage for the whole family to have a budget that would be good enough to meet the family's needs. How do you start letting the family know about your financial concerns? For starters, you should gather your family members on a scheduled time to talk about your finances. It would be good to be open about your expenses, explaining to your kids the need to trim down on some expenses that may not be needed at the moment and letting everybody know that the family needs to have a budget for practical purposes. Prioritize your expenses according to your needs. Try to make a list of expenses like your electric bills, food and grocery bills, gas bills and medicine bills. If these bills are on your priority list on a monthly basis because these are needed, then you have to make the budget for this list every month. If you can cut down on some expenses like gas bills, then do so. You can have car pools within your neighborhood, you can take the bus or if the office is just near, you can walk or bike going there. As for food and grocery bills, you can always take advantage of sales and discounts offered by these stores. Try to buy wholesale products that would last at least a month like canned goods, laundry products and some other things for the home. This way you would be able to save time and some money. The expenses for clothing, personal beauty care and recreational activities must be budgeted, too. You can always buy clothes in factory sales where they are cheaper compared to the malls. You can just buy your personal care products and do your own pampering at home like pedicure and manicure; do hair treatment at home by using home natural products like honey and virgin coconut oil for your hair and many more home budgeted personal care. You can search online for more information about this. Even the younger kids must be taught to spend wisely or save some of their allowance. Encourage them to do some household activities like cutting the grass, watering the plants and others instead of hiring someone else to do it. You can prepare the snacks they need for school so that they won't have to spend their allowance. As for your entertainment and recreational activities, you would have to budget them, too. Instead of going on a vacation to a far away resort, opt to go to a nearby park where you can play games, bike around and eat together. Go the zoo or go to a nearby camping site where you can camp over night and have fun. The idea is to have family bonding, having fun and sticking to a family budget that you have followed. With the global crisis around us, it is good to have a budget to properly manage the family's finances. It is a good way to keep the family intact and go through this global crisis united as one family.
