Heart is the rhythm of life, with each beat it pumps huge gallons of blood that gets distributed to all parts of the body. Heart is one of the major organ of human body on which all the organs depend. Term heart disease affects the circulatory system that constitutes not only heart but also blood vessels. Like all other muscles and organs of the body heart also need nutrition which is supplied through arterial system, impairment in arterial system mainly due to atherosclerosis which leads to narrowing of artery that results in reduce blood supply to the heart. Angina pectoris or Heart attack is the most common cause of arterial constriction which can sometimes become so severe that patient may die on that spot if not treated immediately. Heart attack is very common term for left side sharp chest pain radiating to left arm with breathlessness.

The coronary heart disease is generally referred to the disease to the heart secondary to the interrupted and defective supply of blood through the coronary arteries to the heart muscles. The major causes behind all heart disease are arteriosclerosis in which artery loses its elasticity due to many factors and their wall become hardened and thickened. This develops high blood pressure in coronary arteries as a result more pressure on heart. Recent research has also proved that there is direct relation between diet and heart disease. Many fatty diets have tendency to increase the cholesterol level inside blood that gets deposited in the artery and constricts the artery and create heart disease.

Causative factors of Heart attack
Diet is one of the major factors for heart disease. Fatty and oily foods are the major reason that elevates the cholesterol level inside the body and later it gets deposited in the arterial wall causing constriction of artery and affects the heart badly. If there is a family history of heart disease found in grandfathers, fathers and mothers then next generation is susceptible to heart disease. Coronary artery disease runs in family. Stress is directly related with heart disease. Person stays in the stressful environment for the long period of time then chances of heart problem increases. Research has proven that sedentary life with any exercise can cause hart disease.

Symptoms of Heart attack:
- Sharp and tight chest pain radiating to left arm and may radiate to chest.
- Feeling of discomfort and burning sensation in chest region after meals.
- Breathlessness and weakness after slight exertion.
- Chest discomfort with fainting, sweating, lightheadedness, nausea.
- Anxiety, nervousness and/or cold, sweaty skin.
- Irregular or increased heart rate.

Management of heart attack
Heart attack patient needs dedicated heart care. Specific protocol should be followed for these patients. Heart care management includes Oral Aspirin, high flow oxygen, Intravenous analgesia, Bed rest and E.C.G monitoring. Reperfusion is the process which should be followed in the treatment of heart attack i.e. quickly opens the blocked artery. The immediate goal of treatment is to quickly open blocked arteries with the help of drugs that restore blood circulation to the heart muscles. Drugs that are popularly used to dissolve the blood clots and maintain blood supply are tissue streptokinase and plasminogen-activator (t-PA).
