Your baby, young as they are can already have their own twinge of aches and hurts. When your baby is about six months or older, chances are they are going to go through teething problems. As a mother, you must be ready to deal with this kind of problem. You must be aware of the signs such as swollen gums and too much drooling of your baby. Your baby becomes restless, cries a lot, does a lot of biting and sucking and at times does not sleep too well. There is also some loss of appetite. You have to show a lot of patience and attention to your baby and must understand the discomfort they are going through. As such, there are good ways to help you deal with your baby's teething aches and reduce your worry as well.

The baby's gums can become quite sensitive. So it would help if you do a gentle massage by using your clean finger or do it with a soft wet gauge. Rub gently across the gums as often as needed to make your baby comfortable. You may also give your baby some hard silicon teething rings to bite on. There are good foods your baby can chew on like cold celery sticks, carrot sticks and bread sticks. Just take care to watch over your baby to make sure no bigger parts of these foods are swallowed. You can also feed your baby some cold yogurt and apple sauce. Give your baby more cold water as something cold often eases teething aches. Baby pacifiers come in handy if your baby prefers to have something on their mouths. A wet and cold dump soft cloth is also good for the baby to bite on. If your baby is still being breastfed, you can freeze some of your milk in ice cube trays and you can keep them in a feeder bag and have your baby suck on this.

Since your baby does a lot of drooling, make sure to place a soft cotton bib around your baby's neck. This protects your baby's cheeks, neck and chins from becoming raw and causing some stinging sensations. A warm bath can also keep the baby fresh and comfortable. In case of restlessness, try to distract your baby's attention by giving a multi-colored toy, watching cartoons on TV, point to a running pet around the house, going outdoors to the garden and see anything moving on the street, make some funny sounds or do playtime with your baby.

You can also ask your pediatrician for some baby medicines in case your baby's teething aches are becoming too hard for your baby to handle.

All babies go through the teething process and each may differ from one another. Some babies go through the teething process with too much discomfort while there are some who feel the opposite. This is a normal process, a part of the growth development of your baby and it would end within a few weeks. The good thing about this is that you and your baby have gone through this together and have bonded more closely, thus making this process easier for your baby.
