How To Select A Career That Would Suit You WellBY: Eve | Category: Careers | Post Date: 2010-02-08
Are you satisfied with your career? If the question comes up as a topic for conversation, you may be surprised to know that more people are not happy with their careers. It is more likely a case of complaining about their jobs, that they are overworked and underpaid and they are just not happy working, and these people are wishing that they could have a different career than their present ones. If you happen to feel that way, then you may have to think of some ways to alleviate your problem. First, you have to calm down and think hard what it is you want to do with your professional career. If you are self assured that you are capable of accomplishing something much more, then you are starting it good. Try to admit to yourself that you have come to a realization that you may need a change in your career. It takes courage to admit that, and make sure to remember that it is a process that you have to deal with; and with possibilities that you may have to start and reinvent yourself to get to where you want to go. You have to make a plan, make realistic goals and you have to focus on these goals. Trust yourself that you can do this, find your strengths and make use of them, improve on your weaknesses and seek help from someone to guide you along the way. Remember that a career change may be over whelming for you, so you have to summon all your courage and thoughts so you would be able to make the right choices about your career. Firstly, you need to know what you want. Is it more money to earn, something that you enjoy doing and a career that makes you satisfy your inner needs? If you have come up with positive answers to your questions, you might as well prepare some action plans which you should implement immediately. Identify every detail that you want to envision, and then simply move forward, be positive and focus on that goal. Your first action plan is commitment. You must commit yourself in finding a career that suits you. Next, you must train yourself to conquer hindrances that would prevent you to succeed. Such samples of hindrances may be like confusion or not knowing what to do with a new job and your self-defeating beliefs that you tend to be discouraged along the way. You must be able to overcome these bad obstacles and pursue more positive faith in yourself. If you need help, try and get all the necessary support that you need. Get family or close friends to help you; if you need more professional help and guidance, you can opt to seek out a professional career coach or counselor. Remember that you are also making a choice to do this so you must learn to make a claim to that choice and stick to it. The key to remember here is getting what you want in your career- satisfaction both emotionally and financially, and that self assurance of being contented and happy with your life and with your career revolving around it.
