The basic activities we perform routinely are breathing, walking (!!) , sleeping, eating, waste disposal , reading, thinking, praying, dreaming (!), talking, working in office, interacting with others , watching television , listening to music, purchasing, cooking (!) , gossiping (!) etc. During each of these activities , we can introduce small exercises so that we need not do any exercises separately and also save time . Breathing This is something which we do all the time unconsciously. We can consciously do deep breathing particularly in places of pollution free environment . Early morning may be the best time. we can do it at other times. Even if we are going to do it three to ten times every hour , we can do it more than twenty /thirty times a day which is very good enough to clear the air passages . Also recently it is confirmed that heart attack , if comes (god forbid) ,the first thing to do is to cough and clear your heart . Also another thing is massage . Most of the time the difference between gastric problem and heart attack is not clear as the pain is almost at the same point. BY doing deep breathing , we can clear the passages and thereby avoid one reason for blockage. Walking This is the easiest thing to do. However the tend to plan for on hour walking etc and end up totally avoiding walking . We can simply start by doing ten steps every hour . We can drink a lot of water so that atleast for natural call we will be forced to get up and walk. Another thing to do is to march in the same place a fixed/variable number of times. we basically tend to look for freedom and avoid doing things which we feel are compulsory. So we can try to make the job easier for us by walking a smaller pace and keeping small targets initially and slowly increasing it. It may be better to have company for doing and also have competition so that an encouragement will be there to do it. Sleeping: This is something which we should not be doing anything specifically about as far as possible except perhaps follow a specific and routine time cycle and fixed minimum and maximum number of hours. Once we take care of the other activities viz walking, breathing exercise, eating habits, etc , this will automatically be taken care of. Of course here the posture, what we do before going to bed , what we do before we actually get sleep may help. For example , after getting into bed , we may try to close our eyes and inform the body mentally that we are going to take rest and that the physical activities will again start after say seven hours . IF the mind brings up problems of tomorrow or the issues faced that day , we can gently say to the mind , as we do in a meeting that these issues will be discussed or taken care of tomorrow and that for the time being discussion period is over . If the problematic thinking still persists and prevents you from sleeping , then one can start writing down the thoughts and problems.
