If you have made your pet cat a member of your family then you have accepted everything about its habits and way of life. The cat as a home pet is a gentle creature, being cuddly in a cozy way and can provide you the company you may need in certain times that you may need it most. Unfortunately, it has a terrible habit of urinating inside the house- your house for that matter. This is most especially true if you did not properly take care in training your cat to properly do its natural way of relieving itself away from your house. Now, you have as stinky problem, literally speaking of how to make your house free from cat urine odor.

Okay, if your cat has already done it inside the house, of all places on your carpet, then immediately get hold of paper towels to dry out the urine. Don't wait for the urine to get absorbed by the carpet as this would create more problems for you. Use as many paper towels as you can to absorb the urine. Then clean the carpet area where you can smell the cat urine with household bleach and use a brush to scrub the area to further get rid of the smell. You can also make use of one cup of vinegar with a basin of water and brush again that area with this mixture. Then simply vacuum that area. If you can, have your carpet air dried under the sun or air to completely get rid of the urine odor.

If your cat did it on your garments and other kinds of clothing, you may immediately wash them in the washing machine with a strong detergent mixed with ¼ cup of white vinegar to get rid of the urine smell.

Make a good litter box for your cat, one that would be attractive enough for it to go back and forth especially when it is time to do its natural habit. The litter box can be placed outside the house in an open area where there is enough sunshine and air around. It would be good to train your cat to go there; make it a habit to walk your cat to its litter box, and letting out your cat and accompanying your cat to do it there. It may take patience and time, but your cat would be able to follow your lead as soon as it gets the notion that the litter box is the right place for it to do nature's call.

A very useful tip is to make a convenient spray ready for your use. This spray is a mixture of about ¼ cup of white vinegar and the rest would be water to fill up a regular sized bottle spray. This is very handy to spray along the corners of the house, behind doors, cabinets and furniture, under the beds, along the pathways, plant pots and boxes and other possible places where your cat likes to do its natural habit.

Of course, there are available commercial products that are especially made to get rid of cat urine smell. You can purchase these and use them, too, to help solve your problem.

That said, your cat as your pet must be your responsibility and that responsibility includes making sure that your house does not reek of cat smell, bad odors or anything else that smells like a cat.
