As responsible parents you should know how to make time to listen to your child. There are times that we think that talking to them can be a hard thing to do. We always have this feeling that they don't care to listen to us and they think we won't be able to listen to them either. It just shows that learning how to listen and talk to our children are important traits to be good parents. It is always important to remember to consider your child's emotions, reactions and insights and you should be aware to make the time to listen and talk to them in a genuinely fair way.

There is always the natural tendency to make a reaction first than making a response. We are biased on our decisions because we have our own way at looking at things and we relate them to what happened to us. Nonetheless, responding refers to being able to accept what our child would say to us and allowing them to be honest with their feelings without having to be angry at them or show any resentment towards them. On the other hand, when we react it may make our child think and feel that whatever they have to say or do are not important to us. But by actually responding to them and being interested about how they feel would pave the way for better communication and this would give you the chance to really understand your child's predicament. The other good thing about responding is that it gives you the time to look for answers regarding your child's problem which they may find difficulty in doing so. By being responsive and making the time to listen to your child would make them appreciate you more.

It is very important to make time to listen to your child especially in situations that they need to talk to us. These are the times that we need to give them our full attention regardless of how busy we are. They need to be shown that we are focused on what they are saying and that we are there to help the best way we can. You make the time to listen by showing interest to what your child is saying and showing them your sympathy and sincere understanding of their situation. Show your concern and try to come up with solutions based on your child's opinions and yours as well. Always make the time to listen to your child's own feelings when you suggest solutions to these problems.

Let your child express their feelings of anger and frustration. Try to be there when they do and just be there to console them once you feel they have calmed down. As always, make the time to listen to your child, let them express their feelings and help provide possible solutions to their problems.

It would be good to remember that our children have their own feelings and experiences just like we have ours. They have to deal with difficult situations just like us. By making the time to listen to your child and talking openly about their feelings and experiences, it would enable them to realize that we are concerned about them, we are ready to help and that we have our own experiences to share that they can learn from. Remember, always make the time to listen actively to your child, respond to their needs and they would respond to yours.
