Something About Prayers and PrayingBY: Eve | Category: Religion | Post Date: 2009-11-22
Do you believe in the power of prayer? I've been asked this question a lot of times and my answer has always been a resounding 'yes'! I'm Catholic and I'm sure my being one has greatly influenced my belief on it. I have friends who have different beliefs and religion was never an issue for us. I pray because this habit and belief has been instilled in my life by parents who believed in it. I pray for safety and good health of my family and friends. I pray for guidance and I pray to give thanks for all the blessings I have received. I pray for my departed loved ones. I admit I now pray for people I don't even know. I watch TV and the news are usually about people who are sick, dying, lost, hurt and abused and about everything else so bad you'd probably not even imagine capable of happening. So I just thought that maybe I can help these people by praying for them.. and it somehow dawned on me that maybe nobody's praying for them. Honestly, when I started to pray for them I felt good and I found a certain peace in me and some assurance that these people would somehow be able to go through life again with better hope to look forward to. Shall I let you know about the good things that have been happening to me lately? I believe my prayers have a lot to do with them. I have been writing professional for the past several months. I prayed for a writing job with a good employer; after about three days I got a job with an employer who pays well. Then I thought I still have some extra time to get another job and I prayed for it again. Well, I got it again with a second employer who pays even better. I just feel so lucky and blessed with these opportunities coming my way. I am totally in awe when I receive e-mails from some writing groups offering me writing jobs part time or full time with good salaries to match. I am really thankful for the good things that have come my way. Honestly, when I started to pray more for others and for people I don't know that's when good things started to happen. So maybe that's what's its all about. Praying is not only doing it for your own need but it is more of praying for others that need it more. Having said that, I hope and pray that everyone else in their own way would do something similar like this. It may make a difference in your life. In my case, it just did.
