Anger can act both as your strength and weakness. Being passive is as harmful as being excessively angry. Excessive anger is like mild poison that eats into your inner system than affecting your enemy. Anger management is important to keep your self-destruction in check. Your anger can only make you weaker.

Your anger is the reflection of how you are feeling from inside. I will give you a simple example; consider yourself as excellent in the game of cricket but pretty mediocre in table tennis. While playing cricket you can get out for a duck, but your inner system will always reconfirm you that you are good in cricket and tomorrow you will play a good game. Your system knows that you are good in cricket and it motivates you to try harder and improve. While playing table tennis the proceeding will not be the same. Your system knows that you are not good in playing this game. When you perform badly your system cannot motivate you to fight harder. You are weak in this game; as a result frustration will creep in resulting in anger. To sum up, your weakness (or lack of practice or habit) in something gives rise to frustration if things go wrong leading to anger.

Anger in itself not bad, how you manage your anger makes all the difference. You must know yourself. Try to analyze the situation where you get angry. Try to maintain a log book. Note down the sequence of events in a pocket diary every time you get angry and play foul. Within a month you will begin to see a pattern in your anger. If you are getting angry while driving in heavy traffic you know what to change, drive slow, get out of home fifteen minutes earlier than usual. There will be no rush to reach office. In you are getting angry at your subordinates, try to talk to them, explain your requirements and if possible train them. There is no point shouting at someone for the sake of job. Not only you are destroying your personal relations but your psyche is also getting disturbed.

Once you are angry you have two choices in your hand, one is to let yourself calm down and then talk and other is to vent out your peace of mind instantly. Letting your self calm down is a better option. It's easier said than done, but with practice and realization you can dramatically reduce the frequency of your anger. Instant anger will do you more harm than good, it develops a bad habit of venting anger any time any place. Your instant anger can become a source of huge embarrassment for your family.
Develop eyes where you can see the world from the eye of others. Our anger is mostly a result of our constricted view of this world. Objective is to see the world from the point of view of others. Not everyone in this world wants to things a wrong way. They are right in their way, may be you are not aware of their point of view. Try to be friendly with more people. You must have noticed that your fit of anger is more on strangers than on your friends. You know your friends well and their point of view.

Be friendly and understanding towards others. You will have no time to get angry. In short socialize more.
