How many times you have said to yourself that you need to change -working culture- of your office. If you can be more specific, you will realize that the most contributing factor leading to a bad working culture is working overtime in office. If you have a boss who does twelve hours a day and still thinks about work when at home is a pain. If you continue getting telephone calls from him even on Saturdays and Sundays then I know how it feels. In our country its common, people who works over time are considered good and given more professional respect. But why people do not realize that why the person is not able to manage within his eight hours of work. There is no work in this world that cannot be managed within eight hours of daily (efficient) work. Working overtime is more a bad habit and allowing your system to work slower. Getting continued glued to your laptop to answer those unnecessary emails is really a bad time management. Spending no time with family with an excuse of workload is a false excuse.

It is important to realize that nothing in this world can replace your family and home. You may give priority to your work but top priority should always be your family. Work can be very overwhelming. Majority of you day you spend with your work, so its is not difficult to assume that your work gets lingered to your house. But you must stop this. You must lean to manage your work, you must learn time management. There can be nothing more important in life than your family. You cannot sacrifice your personal life for the sake of your work.

Companies spend million of dollars to train their employees in time management. If an employee can manage their time more effectively it means his efficiency at work will increase. More efficiency means more output. In short we can say that time management increases your productivity at workplace. It also allows your finish your work within schedule and spends more quality time with your family. Instead of spending money in costly management classes, companies shall gift their employees a pocket diary worth few dollars. The next step will be to train the employees how to use this pocket diary. A pocket diary can be the best time management tool available in this world. Listing down your To-Do will drastically increase your productivity at work. Dedicate one page of your diary for each day of work. Divide your diary into two halves. In one half, simple go on listing down your To-Do in the sequence as it comes. In the other half (dedicated page /day), note down activities done each day noting the time of start and end. Suppose your office starts at 10:00am and ends at 6:00. List down your activities for the day as listed below:

• 10:00 / 11:30 - Activity 1
• 11:30 / 12:00 - Activity 2
• 12:00 / 01:30 - Activity 3
• 01:30 / 02:00 - Lunch
• 02:00 / 04:00 - Activity 4
• 04:00 / 06:00 - Activity 5

By managing the list as discussed above, you will notice that on which activity you are investing how much time. Just by listing your activities as above, you will realize that you are wasting or managing your time well.
