Students with learning disabilities need more creative ways to learn. The teacher should device a curriculum for individualized learning and should be patient enough to be repetitive in teaching, using visual aids and encouraging class participation among the students. The teacher must be wise enough to adapt more learning and easier methods for these students to learn and cope up with school lessons.

As a parent, you would want your child to learn well enough to keep them prepared for their future. If you have a regular and healthy normal child in school, all you need to do is provide guidance, advice and assist your child in accordance with the teacher's teaching methods. However, if you have a child with some learning disabilities, you are faced with a complicated problem. Learning can be a hard situation for your child, so you have to work it out with the teacher in school to help provide the best kind of learning methods for the child.

The schools are now more open to provide special attention to students with learning disabilities. As a teacher in school, you are more likely to put in more creative ways to help your students understand what you are teaching them. There are good and effective ways to present your lessons in a level that the students would understand. You just have to make a curriculum that would enable you to plan out lessons based on the students' needs and capabilities.

A very good and effective method for the student to understand the lessons is thru the use of visual aids. This would help students remember the lessons and understand them as well. The uses of illustrative and detailed organizers also help capture the students' interest. You may also make use of an overhead projector to help them visualize and understand lessons or instructions you are trying to teach to them. A chalk chart or chalk board is also good to help the students learn further. Moreover, you must also remember to repeat what you are teaching them till you are sure that they remember and understand before going on to another lesson.

Sometimes, you may need to do individualized teaching. Some students may be faster than the rest, and you must be able to provide the attention to these students who have a lesser pace for the lessons. Perhaps, you can have some lessons recorded so students can play them over to recall their lessons at home. You can also help students by assisting them to write on their notepads or on the board what they have learned, and helping them understand some words which you think need emphasis so that they would know. You can ask what they don't understand and be accommodating to their questions no matter how repetitive some would be. You can help them underline some important lessons and devise some ways to help them remember them. Using graphic colors or pencil colors is an effective way to help the students to easily remember their lessons. A color may represent a lesson, so that each color would represent different lessons, thereby helping the students to distinguish one from the other.

As a teacher, you must also be able to help your students do their assignments. Instructions can become useless since these students don't really understand what you are saying. It would be better to do it by demonstration. You have to show the steps about how they are going to do their assignments. You can do this by use of visual aids, making examples that are simple for the students to follow. You must also be patient to repeat instructions till they get it right, and you may also have to ask them to repeat what you have said, or have them do what you have demonstrated to make sure they understand. This method would enable the child to remember and understand what it is you require them to do regarding their assignments.

Make sure you have a classroom that would encourage communication among your students and yourself. You may ask your students to come in front of the class and you can help in answering questions. You may as well also use groupings, where you can group the students so that they would be able to share and discuss with one another. You can conduct reading lessons together and help the students read and understand their lessons more. It is better to have a lively and active participation in your class rather than just having them just sit and listen to you.

Teaching students with learning disabilities is a huge task. You need patience, understanding, determination and some creativity to help them learn. Nonetheless, it would be a gratifying and fulfilling experience especially when you see your students learn and see positive improvements in their way of understanding the lessons you teach them.
