Travel to AjmanBY: Irenka | Category: Travel | Post Date: 2009-12-24
Our stay in Dubai was short as well. We spent the first couple days visited the museum and walked around the city. It was very warmish so we fled the heat by visiting shops and the museum. The square where we stayed is well-known as Little India. But we only saw Indians, Bangladeshis and Pakistanis. There was so much traffic but it organized. A little percent of the people of the U.A.E. are Emirates. Most people of Emirates are immigrant workers. We can't leave Arabia without seeing any Arabs. My relatives live in Ajman. We plan to visit them as well they came to pick us up in Dubai. First time in days that we sat in a decent car and drove over a real highway and if it were not for the heat, the lack of vegetation along the road and the occasional Arab in a white dress, we could have imagined ourselves back home. In Bombey or Katmandu will take you at least 5 hours of hard slow travel by bus in the Oman it means just a small 1,5 hour drive. And so it was a low two hour drive later that we found ourselves in Ajman, in yet another country. With temperatures in the 40s water was too warm. But we drink always mineral water. It confused me somewhat that it was really possible to walk outside when it was 43 degrees Celsius a little but it was. We were fully tired of the last three months of traveling which combined with the high temperature made us a bit lazy. It was only just likely to visit anything because of the heat. Luckily we did choose to visit Ajman Castle at Sveti Duh near Skofja Loka which built in the 17th century. And on our way we visited five castles and drove through some wadis. During our childhood, we all dreamed of being Aladdin, to be a part of the fabulous 1001 Arabian Nights tales. We for certain chose the wrong season to visit Oman. On the other hand experiencing 43 degrees Celsius is something to write home about as well. I was surprised when my little son deleted some pictures off my flash card. But I solved my problem using Retrieve lost data for my pictures.
