If you are in a personal relationship you must do everything you can to keep it going. A good relationship is one that has a good foundation based on many factors that both partners must have. Trust is one of those key factors.

To keep trust in a relationship it would be good to always tell the truth. The truth must always come from either of you , and not from anybody else. It may hurt sometimes but knowing the truth from your partner and your partner knowing the truth from you helps keep the relationship intact.

Promises are made to be broken as the saying goes, but don't do that as a habit. If you made a promise to your partner, do it and stick to that promise. So keep in mind to make a promise that you can keep. Don't make a promise just for the sake of having something to say nice to your partner.

Be reliable to your partner. If you told your partner that you are attending their company function then you should be there. This gives your partner the assurance that you can be relied on if you are needed.

Try to have open communication with your partner. Share your views, opinions and feelings honestly. Be open to discuss your problems and solutions. Let your partner know about your needs. You must also encourage your partner to do the same. Respect each others feelings and opinions, be comfortable with your openness. Acknowledge your faults and imperfections. This is the kind of trust that is good for both of you.

Take the time to bond. You can do this by having dates regularly, going out on trips and doing sports together. This bonding time is good for talking and making plans about the two of you as a couple. Bonding physically, emotionally and spiritually builds the trust between you better.

If you are told about something in confidence be sure to keep it as that. Your partner needs to be assured that you would be able to handle a situation like this when it comes. You must keep in mind that you don't have to share this confidence with your family or your partner's family, either. It could be just the two of you who knows so keep that trust your partner asks of you.

Trust is a trait that you have to develop. You have to prove that you are capable of trust. So it goes without saying that to have trust in you, you must be trustworthy yourself. Sometimes you have to take a risk to find out if a person can be trusted. You can test this person and if you are satisfied with the result, then you may conclude that the person can be trusted. In a relationship, you keep the trust going because you know well enough that you and your partner would need it and both of you would benefit from it.
