What are the dangers of carrying that extra fat in your body?BY: DrRitu | Category: Health | Post Date: 2009-11-18
Health is one part of our life that we continue neglecting it till we have no option but to accept the importance of being healthy. Most of the time this realization comes too late and by then we have developed diabetes, hypertension, high blood pressure, heart disease and what not. There is no doubt that we all know the importance of good health but unfortunately we fail to put this knowledge into practice. There are only two critical things that we must follow to maintain a healthy life. We must maintain a routine of regular exercise and intake of healthy foods. But it's much easier said than done; and we end up destroying our healthy life. Diabetes Diabetes is a disease, where the body is not able to maintain the necessary blood sugar level. There are two types of diabetes, one where the sufferer takes insulin in his blood to maintain the blood sugar levels or the body is producing excess insulin than the required. Five to 10% of patients suffer from diabetes where they have to inject insulin into the blood. Due to diabetes there are kidney failures, eye problems and heart disease. The risk of diabetes is greatly increased if one is over fat because insulin resistance is linked to obesity. In diabetes; keeping body fat under control and regular exercising in most important. High Blood Pressure When we measure the blood pressure there are two numerical that we concentrate on; the maximum output pressure of the heart and the pressure when and the heart is at rest. If the numbers are too high, it indicates that the heart has to work too hard. This may happen when there is a restriction in the arteries or the arteries are losing their elasticity. Due to high blood pressure there are chances of heart failure or kidney failures. Being over fat is one of the biggest reasons of developing high blood pressure. Heart disease Heart disease is a condition that causes your heart to malfunction. This is where the blood flow to the heart is restricted. Coronary artery diseases are most common. These happen due to the thickening of blood vessel walls due to fatty deposits. The risk of developing fatty deposits in artery walls are much higher if you are taking high fat diet or you are having a high cholesterol diet. While we are developing a disease in our body there is a big contribution of age and genetics. But the risk of developing disease is multiplied if the person is over weight or he is taking a very high fat diet. Fat is the culprit of developing the most harmful disease in our body. It is in our interest that we should know how to control the fat intake. It is not the fat itself which is dangerous but rather our discipline of consuming high fat food on regular basis. There are overweight people who live a perfectly normal life because they have learned to manage fat in their body.
