There is a hell lot of difference between dieting and fasting. Dieting is process of starving the body on continuous basic for days to come. But fasting is a one day activity. Dieting has a lot of side effects and it's never a long term solution for weight loss. But fasting is a great way of weight management and for sure it given the desired results.

The buzzword is ‘intermittent fasting'. People who do intermittent fasting are healthier and their weigh is better managed than people who choose dieting over fasting. Actually intermittent fasting helps in more way than one. Not only it helps in loosing weight but it also has great biological effects on the metabolism of body.

Fasting allows you to take all the foods you love, unlike dieting where you have a very restricted and controlled diet. In fasting the only thing you do is to stop taking your food for a day. You allow your body to starve for a day at least, and then get back to the normal food regime. Managing your fasting regime is much simpler than dieting. Fasting does not require from you a strict fitness regime. One week you can decide to fast of Monday, other week you can do it on Friday or even on weekends. It's your choice. The frequency of fasting is also your choice. The day you are feeling awful about your body and extra weight is the best day to do the fasting. Go by my words, it's really easy to fast and manage your weight by fasting than by dieting.

By allowing your body to starve on the days of fasting, you are actually creating a huge deficit of calorie in your body. Your body needs calorie to perform its functions. They get these calories from food you intake. Generally we take extra food (calorie) than we need. The result is that, a part of extra calorie gets stored in the body in form of fat and we start gaining weight. During the days of fasting you do not take food. In those days, calorie intake is zero from food. Your body has to see other areas from where they can get some calories. They attack the extra deposit of fats and start consuming your deposited fats. In turn you loose weight. If followed a regular regime of fating each week, you can be sure to see the benefits within first few months.

One small advice, it's always better to be wise than clever. What do I mean?
You are acting clever by eating all sorts of junk foods for six days a week and doing fasting the seventh day. Your body knows you are getting clever. First you are feeding it with all junks, making it a trash can and then by fasting for one day you expect it to heal. It will not oblige you. Rather be wise and generous by eating responsibly on your regular days. I am not telling you to stop eating those French fries and chicken burgers, but I am only requesting you to control the quantity of intake of food. Show your wisdom in consuming a controlled quantity of food and your will see that you stand-out as a winner.

Fasting is a good weapon to tackle the problem of excess weight. But you can make your weapon more effective by eating responsible on your regular days.
