Denture is the most obvious, taken for granted, part of our body. We know that without them we cannot live this life to its fullest; but still we do not give our teeth its minimum dues. Our teeth generally never complain, but when it complaints it brings the whole world upside down. Pain in tooth is compared to the most severe paints in human body. On that dooms-day we realize how important it is for us take good care of our teeth. We will discuss few healthy habits required to be developed for proper dental health

- We will start from basics. Brush your teeth at least two times a day. Irrespective of how perfect your denture is, still is possible that food particles get stuck in the gaps. Every time you take meal it's important to rinse your teeth and mouth thoroughly. But rinsing is not enough. Brushing at the end of the day is very important. Whenever food particles get stuck between your teeth and are clogged, in due time the start decaying. Food particles upon decay are converted into lactic acids. The acid attacks your enamel resulting in cavities. Now you know why those holes and black marks are there in your tooth.

- Use of a suitable tooth brush is also important. The structure of your tooth brush shall be so designed that by minimum effort it should reach to all the intricacies of your mouth. The bristles shall be soft so that it does not damage your gums upon rubbing. Always use M-shaped bristles which have found to be most effective for cleansing of teeth. Try to observe your teeth in a mirror; you will see an inverted M shape profile. Gently and thorough brushing of teeth helps in removal of plaques. Plaques are generally built up on the back side of your lower denture. Very often we miss brushing from the inside of the teeth. Plaques are the result of irregular brushing of the effected areas. Gently massaging of gums with soft bristle tooth brushes helps in increasing blood circulation. Hence the gum stays healthy.

- Use of tongue cleaner in regular basis, two times a day is important. Accumulation of bacteria on tongue is most easy. By gently scratching the upper portion of tongue we can get rid of bacteria and also avoid bad breath.

- Reduction of food rich in sugar content will be very effective for maintaining healthy teeth. Calcium and phosphorus rich foods like milk, yoghurt, cheese, egg are important for health development of teeth.

- It is important for every one to visit their dentist at least once a year. Having a dental floss done at least three to four times a year will help in the removal of black marks seen between subsequent teeth. If your plaques are too hard to be removed by normal brushing, then you can consult your dentist and seek his help.

Behind your lovely smile there lie your teeth. If your teeth are clean and shiny you can be rest assured that people love your smile just like they love you.
