Beyond the Orphanage is a wonderful project made possible by a number of people who are experts in their field and are dedicated to trying to improve the lives of the orphans in Ethiopia. The United Nations named Africa as the continent of orphans; a significant number of children lose a parent or both parents to HIV, malaria, famine, among others, with others are left without a mother at birth due to lack of prenatal care or general health care for new mothers.

A team of volunteers started Beyond the Orphanage which is already changing the lives of children and giving them reason to live. No matter how the children became orphans, one thing the children have in common is that all of them have needs that should be addressed. These needs are not just basic. Children do not just need to be fed, clothed, and sheltered, their growth and development is in no small way connected to a need to be loved and cared for. Love and caring are vital to the survival of all these children.

The children of Beyond the Orphanage are not the typical orphans seen in the media pictured as malnourished and unfortunate. The children of Beyond the Orphanage are healthy and in high spirits - these young children have already felt the love and care given to them by not only the staff and volunteers of Beyond the Orphanage, but also the other people who went out of their way to show that they care.

The children of Beyond the Orphanage are not just given the nourishment that their young bodies need, but they are also clothed, and have a place they can call home. Equally as important is that these children, through the help and cooperation of all the people who have donated and shared their time and resources, are now educated and receive the proper schooling they need. Last but not least, the children receive health care services and the emotional support critical to their growth.

There are few things more devastating for a child than to lose both parents while living in an impoverished community with, literally, nothing to offer and no-one to turn to. Thankfully there are programs and other child centered solutions for children who need not just food, clothing, and shelter, but the love and belongingness of a family. Beyond the Orphanage is doing incredible work in this area. This group is composed of volunteers (who are experts in their fields and other professionals) who do not hesitate to share with the children not just their skills but their love and affection.

The children of Beyond the Orphanage are children who smile from ear to ear - from joy and happiness. This joy and happiness is made possible by the people around the world who took time to learn about the children and extended help in any way they could. Mostly, the happiness of the children comes from knowing that there are still people who care, who are selfless enough to share with them their time and efforts.

Donations can be made anytime by visiting the website and clicking on "Make a Donation". There are, of course, other ways to help these children aside from making donations. People may choose to support projects Beyond the Orphanage is facilitating. The website provides more information on the projects and how they will help to improve the lives of the children. Another way to help is through organizing fundraising projects, whether in your local community, at work, in school - just about in any way imaginable. Beyond the Orphanage is very happy to receive any amount of help from groups and other organizations who are willing to help the children. Help can come in all forms and people should not hesitate to extend any assistance.

Beyond the Orphanage believes that by simply reading or visiting the website, this is already taking a large step towards helping the children live better lives. After reading the information on the website, people will hopefully spread the word about Beyond the Orphanage and their mission to help these children have the future they so deserve. Letting other people know about this program will change the lives of the children; more than anyone could ever imagine.
