Common Mistakes on a Job InterviewBY: Deidre Dorsett | Category: Careers | Submitted: 2010-07-14 20:46:31
When you think about the interview, you might not have had much success and you might be wondering why. There might be quite a few reasons as it didn't work. So, what are a few common mistakes that many people have going for them as they interview? One of the first ones is that they slouch. A person who cares, tunes into the relationship and more sit straight and maintains eye contact. This is something that many people do. Sit up straight with your hands in your lap or on the table if you are sitting at a table. Many stutter. They don't think about the words that they are about to say. When you get flustered like this, it means that you didn't prepare and it means you have to think about what you are going to say. You want to sound as though you can carry yourself. Some don't dress for the part. Khakis are fine, but you do want to wear dress pants and nice shoes. Some often wear gym shoes. This is not what you should wear. If you don't want to wear heals ladies, you then should wear loafers. This would help greatly. Another thing that they forget to do is the research of the company. They might not give you a test about the company, but by knowing your values and what they hope to hire when they look for employees, you can bull crap your answers to sound like what they are looking for. Some forget to ask questions. There are many of them who forget to ask something even if it is what proper dress attire is. If they didn't cover it in the interview, you might want to ask about it. Ask about parking or lunch. It shows that you are curious as well as interested which are both needed. Last, many forget to be polite. This means you shake your hand. You say things like happy to meet you and so forth. All this is needed to make a great first impression. This also means waiting for them to invite you to sit so you know where you are to sit and waiting for them to speak first before you answer. All of these could be something that hinders how they perceive you. Keep these in mind on your first interview and try to relax yourself. Each failed interview is a lesson so see where you are going wrong. Article Source: http://www.writearticles.org/ About Author / Additional Info: Comments on this article: (0 comments so far)
