I typed in "Rob Bourdon Long Hair" into Google Images, as I wished a good picture of Linkin Park's drummer with long hair. And of all the images that arose, very very few of them were actually of Bourdon, let alone actually him with long hair. There were pictures of women and things, that were totally unrelated to what I wanted. This is because image search engines scan articles for the searched words, and then give you any images from any site that contained those words. So if an article said just for example "Nicki Minaj displayed her long hair style." And went on fifteen pages with that, then said in the last paragraph, "Rob Finnegan was also there, as well as Jack Bourton." Even though it never actually says "Rob Bourdon long hair", it never even says Bourdon, it would still give me an image from the site, most likely of Nicki Minaj. Why the heck would I want to see a picture of Nicki Minaj when I searched for Rob Bourdon!

So I figured, if I could get Nicki Minaj when I search for Rob Bourdon, then can I get something really awful when I search for something a little more- revealing?

Yes, if you search for women, then you get some really awful pictures.

So I want a way to be able to search for images without being inundated with things totally unrelated to what I searched for, and inappropriate images.

So I tried searching some more, and here is some information.

Every computer has different settings, every browser has different settings, every search engine has different settings. So any time images are searched, it can be different for everyone. Google image's default safe search settings are moderate, it can go up to strict. But when I searched with strict settings, it removed several pictures that were perfectly fine, pictures of anything and everything. Pictures of flower vases get removed, pictures of walls get removed. It seems to remove more fine things than inappropriate things. Off to moderate takes off fine things too, but goodness! How many bad things it takes off! If you are searching pretty much anything on Google images, do not have safesearch off. You are doomed if you do.

You also can use Google advanced image search, but that really does not prevent bad things too much.

But since strict isn't really worth it, but moderate still lets things through, I looked for other image search engines. The one that I found that seemed the best is picsearch.com. picsearch.com seems to have a good amount of images that it locates, but it does not have any bad images. Even if you search just "nude", you would be inundated on Google images, but on here, you only get paintings. Since the majority of people including me never search for images remotely related to nude, then that seems great to me. You have zero chance of getting anything bad. The one annoying thing is that sometimes it has an advertisement at the bottom of the page for shuttershock images, which does have images that are not really necessary to be viewed. But ignore those, and picsearch.com seems like the best I could find.
Also, on picsearch.com, when I searched for "Rob Bourdon long hair", about 28 of the first thirty images were of Bourdon. That was much better than Google Image's half.

I was used to google images, until I realized how bad it was. But picsearch.com is actually to me much better, with a fuller list. So that is what I will use in the future.
