Edward Maya is one of those interesting and rare artists who makes his priority the music. Most singers have the music backing up the vocals, the Romanian Maya does the opposite. He has the vocals backing up his music. And it works fantastically. His song "Stereo Love ft Vika Jigulina", another Romanian singer, reached number 16 on the Billboard hot 100, and ranked number 54 song for 2011 on the Billboard 2011 Year-End Chart. Stereo Love had a lot of accordion in it, which is quite unusual and actually mostly unheard of in modern music. Maya has said that "Well, I am the guy [who], when all the songs were made by the computer..no more instruments..just the computer and its programs..[there is] no more color. I put traditional instruments in club songs..and bring the shine that was missing to the songs." He has not yet released his debut album, but has two other singles out beside Stereo Love, called "This is My Life ft Vika Jigulina", and "Desert Rain ft Vika Jigulina". I must personally admit that I love these songs, actually having only recently discovered these two newer ones. The key I find to enjoying his songs is to learn the lyrics, which are often quite difficult to discern from the actual song itself, and when I can enjoy singing along to it with the music, then I get the appreciation of the music and the vocals, which is what makes the song excel to me, and I think a large majority of people do not bother to try to get the lyrics. Sing365.com is generally exceedingly accurate in their lyrics. He is also excellent in his music videos. On Youtube, his Stereo Love video has over 160 million views, making it one of the most watched videos ever, while another copy of the video adds another 60 million views. It shows the beautiful Romanian scenery, and is a very good video. While Desert Rain, to me is ridiculously good. Desert Rain shows Maya in a room of music sheets and instruments, in the desert, all covered in sand. While Jigulina is in a room with a bed and purple leaves all about her. They make their way through the rooms to each other, and it is one of the best videos ever I believe. This is My Life has Maya playing a concert, and also walking a street going forward while everything else is happening in reverse. Until a man with a suitcase sets it down before Maya, and Maya opens it, and turns the record player inside to forwards, when everything reverses and goes forward, while he goes backward. Jigulina presses stop on it, and everything freezes but her. I love Edward Maya's music, and I suggest that you give it a try. He uses flutes and all sorts of exotic instruments in his songs as well, they certainly have that foreign flair to them.
