Finding an Officiant For Your WeddingBY: Ken Kibby | Category: Shopping | Submitted: 2010-10-29 06:39:19
If you are getting married, you need someone to perform your wedding ceremony. If you belong to a church, having your Minister/Rev/Priest perform the ceremony is most common. However, how do you find someone to perform your ceremony if you have a date conflict, don't live in that area, have differences of religion, etc? Tips: • Ask your Facility if they have a Professional that they recommend. • Look to the Internet. • Search Officiants-town you are getting married in. See if there are Officants listed, and if so, look for reviews. Reviews are very important in deciding which one to contact. • Also look on local yellowbook.com under Weddings. This is your wedding, therefore, be careful not to choose someone that has no experience. Be sure they are a true professional with credentials. Also, look for the following: • They have a website • Represented in local Yellow Book showing they are a legitimate business. • Membership in local wedding association sites, or have membership info on their website. • Reviews online from past weddings • Booking info is clearly stated on website and Free Consultation is encouraged. Next Step: Contacting Officiant. When you contact the Officiant, analyze his voice. A Good Wedding Officiant is one that people can hear. • Ask if they would be available for Free consultation. • Ask if they write their own ceremonies, or if you have to provide. • Ask about their credentials and how long they have performed weddings. • Ask about total cost. Do they charge to do a rehearsal? Milage? Ceremony Writing? Charge by your attendance? ie under 100 guests one price, over 200 guests different price. • Ask if they have discounts if your wedding is early or late on Week end, or during week. • Ask about their schedule the day of the wedding. Will there be any problems making it to the wedding on time? • Ask what they wear for the wedding. Do they try to match your colors? Suit? Gown? etc. • Write down other questions you feel you would like to inquire to be sure time is not wasted meeting an Officiant that doesn't fit the criteria you have. It's your wedding, therefore, be sure that you are comfortable with the Officiant, his practices of booking, experience, recommendations from other Wedding Professionals, and your personality.
