Food: Carbs and Pasta Can Help You Lose Some Weight!

The key to good weight management is regular exercise, living a healthy life style of avoiding bad habits (smoking, alcohol, etc.) avoiding stress and having a well balanced diet. Talking about diets, you must think of the right foods that you have to eat. A good diet normally would be a balance of lean meat, fish, other poultry, fresh fruits and vegetables. You would also have to consider the calorie intake your body accepts every time you eat.

Having that in mind, most health buffs go for a diet that would be devoid of too many carbs because these types of food add more calories to their body weight. However, some health dieticians were able to go around the carbs problem and have come up with a good diet plan that would include carbs, in a sense that these carbs would be healthy and would help you lose weight.

Actually, even if carbs have always been thought to be weight-gaining, there are certain carbs that are the opposite. The secret is Fiber- following a high fiber diet can actually help reduce your weight. The fiber notably found in whole grains, some specific legumes and believe it or not, even popcorn can make you feel satisfied. These also help battle fat. If you rigorously follow a high fiber diet, you may need a t least 34 grams of fiber per day and that also means lesser calories for you. In compliance with your carb requirement you may have to keep in mind the two important factors.

1. Try to look for whole grains. Eat more whole grain forms of rice, pasta and bread. These kinds would satisfy you more and these are fiber forms that fight off fat. If you crave for pizza, you can opt to make a whole-wheat pizza crust at home. You may also choose to have brown rice with your Chinese food or choose whole-wheat tortillas if you like to eat Mexican food. You can exchange some regular food for the whole-wheat or grain kinds.

2. Remember that the key to your weight loss is moderation. The whole grains may contain the same amount of calories similar to the white carbs or the refined types, but the difference is that these fiber types would help you feel satiated or filled up at once; thereby you tend to eat in smaller portions. You can eat a salad complemented with fried sage pasta, but place it in a small cereal bowl instead of a plate. You can still eat your pasta and you lose some weight, too.
For more whole grains, you can choose to have whole wheat bread, pasta, Spelt and Bulgur wheat and wheat berries. You can also eat corn, Hominy or healthy kernels in can, and Polenta preferably that is without salt content and popcorn. Eat brown rice and wild rice which are cooked when the grains are split-open. Other good whole grains are hulled barley, Quinoa, Steel-cut-oats and Amaranth, which is a kind of flour to bake cookies. Keep in mind to limit your servings of rice, pasta and oats to ½ a cup, bread to one or 2 slice per serving.

You don't have to deprive yourself of carbs and pasta. All you need to remember is to know which types of pasta and carbs that are healthy for you. You can use a healthy way of preparing them by combinig them with healthy ingredients and other healthy foods.
