How to Make Your Garage Sale a SuccessBY: Deidre Dorsett | Category: Shopping | Submitted: 2010-07-01 12:31:07
When you are holding a garage sale, you want to make sure that you get a good amount of money. So, there are some strategic things that you can do to ensure that you get a great sale. Keep these in mind as you plan your next one. The first thing you need to remember is the timing. Timing is everything. Normally, having it in the early afternoon and even the early morning such as eight in the morning is a good time to have it. You also want to have it on the weekends as more people are off and they have just been paid. This is something to remember as well. The other thing that you need to remember is to make sure to have it during months when garage sales are popular. Normally this is during the months of June through August. The thing is parents are looking for things to do with the kids. Another thing to remember is that you need to have some high end items. A lot of people have all of the same things as nay of the other ones. For instance, clothes go over, but not as well as you would like. The bigger item things are electronics and things for a kitchen as well as furniture. You can always get more. When you are looking at how you set it up, you need to make sure that you have things marked. The clearer things are marked, the fewer questions you will have to answer. When you are marking things, you have to them at a reasonable price. Make them less than what you normally would pay. When you do this, you will find that you will get better deals. Make it a bit high, then when people talk you down, you aren't so hesitant about going lower. The other thing is that you want to clearly display things. You also need to make sure that you go about and advertise your garage sale. Put signs up around your neighborhood that clearly states the date and the time of your sale. You might also list some of the ticket items that you have up for sale. This gets them intrigued if they see something that they could use. Last of all; make sure you don't make it where you will need a lot of change. When you do this, you just make more work for yourself. It's easier to make things that are only dollars and fifty cents rather than eighteen cents and things of that nature. Then you don't have to do so many maths in your mind as many don't have a calculator with them. if you don't have enough items, then get a few people together. Ask a few of your family member and so forth that can help you by having a table of their own. The more things you have, the better off your sale will be. Remember these tips and your sale could be one of the best ones you have had in a long time.
