If you look at statistics you will find out that nearly 1 person out of 2 has had a divorce. Now that's remarkable. And not the least bit relevant. 1 out of 2 got married so of course they're getting a divorce afterwards. How else would she pay for her breast implants and how else would he be able to complain about how that "b*tch" is sucking up all his money? The thing is simple, men and women are human beings. And humans are essentially sexual desire covered in skin. That's why most people do things. The other reason why this happens it's because we're impulsive and stupid. Half our purchases are for impulsive and stupid reasons. So why would relationships be any different? I myself just got into an impulsive relationship. On paper it's such a huge mistake. She hates cars and particularly loathes convertibles whereas I love and drive different cars and wouldn't want to drive anything but convertibles. I love cheese, she doesn't. I usually wear shirts and ties she likes t-shirts. I wouldn't wear a tracksuit if someone pointed a sawed-off rifle to my head telling me to, and she wouldn't want me to wear anything else. She doesn't like red, I do. She doesn't like eggs, I do. She never has breakfast in the early morning while I usually have a cup of tea, a glass of orange juice and a ox filled with marmalade at 7 am. And of course I love dogs, but in the best tradition of relationships between men and women she has a cat. Which I'd very much like to shove into a oven. Then cook it and then eat it. So plainly it's all bound to go badly wrong. And yet this doesn't. The ingredients are all mixed up and it is a phenomenally disorganized mixture of things that shouldn't go well together. Yet they do. It works. Many things are badly conceived, badly designed, badly made and yet they work perfectly. The Devil Bridge in Lucca. Any French car. My left knee. And Uma Thurman. There's only one plausible and realistic reason why this is so. It's because that's what we are. We're wrong. We're supposed to be egoistic, egomaniac, self centered, self involved, selfish, cocky, presumptuous, arrogant, rude, vulgar, naïve, idiotic, exaggerated, impulsive, stupid, irrational, cynical, and, occasionally, vicious. Any big achievement in the whole of human history has been because of an ego maniac who woke up one day and got it done. Leonardo Da Vinci was a mental. Henry Ford was a mental. That bloke who invented the wheel was a mental. We're not meant to be rational. Of course we can't just let it go and act stupid. We have to embrace our passionate lunacy and mix it with a bit of common sense. That's why God invented the Germans, after all. This is way, next time I'll see her cat I will resist the uncontrollable urge to serve it with garlic roast potatoes and eat it and I will simply caress it. And then I'll eat it.
