If This Looks Like a Vent. It's Because It is a Vent.BY: Alessandro Saetta Vinci | Category: Self-Improvement | Submitted: 2010-06-08 12:34:37
Yesterday I was in Liguria, a very nice region in northern Italy. I was there with the director of a website I occasionally write for and we were trying out a new car. The Citroen DS3. We were taking a million pics of the car and driving. We drove a few hundred miles in a couple of hours in the mountains above the city of Garlenda (google it) just to see what the car was like, and i was thinking THIS is what I want to do. I want to do this, take a car, drive a million miles in it, go from Florence to Montecarlo in a day and back, just for kicks. And then write about it. Wrap myself into a car and see how fast it can go just for the hell of it and then write about it. Go to romania and then write about it. This is what I want to do. The point is, nobody else seems to feel like this is right for me. Everybody seems to think appropriate for me to work at Burger King's. And alright I know that that is probably just because that's all they do and they are PETRIFIED by the perspective of someone they know actually managing to do something good and extraordinary, as in OUT of what you might call ordinary. And yet, it makes me upset. Which is an euphemism. Today I'm back home, and I've tried to talk about this, mainly cause THEY asked, with a few people. They all seem to react the same: not interested, they look like they think mine's just a pathetic effort to do something I'm not meant to do. Cause like I said, I should be working at Burger King's right now Clothes designer, motoring journalist, singer, whatever the bloody hell you wanna do, it looks like everybody wants it to be something that OTHER people do, not YOU. Because you and I, we're supposed to work at Burger King's. Like i said. You know what? I don't know, I've slept not more than 5 hours in the last two nights and driven about 1000 miles in a day, so I'm too tired to think, and I would say "bloody hell" at this point, but it just wouldn't do it. I think this situation calls for a gin and tonic or too. Perhaps a few. Perhaps a few hundred.
