The newest of the Ford vehicles marketed in the Philippines is the new Everest, which comes now with a new look and a complete set of modern features, giving the SUV seating 7 people a new attraction that is in line with the toughness of its cred.

The most prominent new design feature in the new Ford Everest is the front grille which display a multi-bar chrome grille, while the lower grille is accented with the same glamorous material. Headlamps are wraparound while the 18-inch alloy wheels feature a diamond-cut shape, wrapped in the 255/60R-18 tires that accentuate the luxurious, sporty look.

"More than ever, Ford Everest is the SUV that brings everything together in one great package," observed the model's chief platform designer, Masaki Makihara. "It's powerful, with the best torque in its segment. It's smooth, with its 5-speed automatic transmission. It's versatile, with outstanding space for people and cargo. And it's safe - the only SUV in its class offering both dual front and side air bags," he added.

The vehicle is made in Thailand and it is powered by the company's DuraTorq TDCi common-rail diesel engine. The Everest comes with an advanced 5-speed manual transmission equipped with triple-cone synchronizers and a dual-mass flywheel. Another choice is the 5-speed automatic transmission that comes with the electronic shift-on-the-fly feature.

One of the new details seen in the Everest, as well as the Escape compact SUV and the Ranger pickup is a unique grille design of the trailing edge of the front fenders, which incorporates the "Everest" model name.

Another is the built-in aluminum side step which is perched along the lower sill and gives the visual impression of a united wheel arches.

The new Everest is either equipped with a 3-liter Duratorq TDCi with 165 ps and a class-leading 380 Nm of torque at a very accessible 1,800 rpm; and two 16-valve common-rail TDCi motors: a 2.5-liter Duratorq TDCi engine, rated at 143 ps with a peak torque of 330 Nm.

According to the company the 2.5-liter model can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 14.6 seconds while the 3-liter variant can do the same in just 14.3 seconds

As far as fuel effeciency is concerned, Ford believes that the 2.5-liter Everest needs 8.8 liters per 100 kilometers, with the maximum tank covering a range of 678 kilometers. As for the 3-liter Everest 4Ã-4, it is said to burn 9.2 liters per 100 kilometers in a 644-km range.
In line with its tough appearance, the new Ford Everest is wonderful when navigating tough, muddy roads peppered with potholes. The vehicle run smoothly on the slippery paths. While comfort can't be compared to that of a luxury car, riding the new Everest is surprisingly nice even when the vehicle is driving down broken roads.

Cabin room provides passengers with luxury car comfort, however, while still able to seat 7 people that all SUV swears to do. The seats are designed ergonomically and the covers are an option between leather and cloth. The Ford's Synchronic one-touch flip-fold system is afforded to the second-row seats so that the seats' backs can be folded flat forward.

For travelers with lots of luggage, the third-row seats can also be folded forward to provide a spacious storage area. They can also be removed completely to lighten up the car and help with the engine efficiency. The seats in the Everest are place in tiered theatre like floor thus avoiding blinding the people sitting at the back.

The entertainment system are well equipped to play CDs and mp3 files, as well as connecting an iPod and other mp3 players to the speakers. The new Everest features GPS enabled navigation system with 5 inch color display in the center of the dashboard.
It is so convenient, the driver or the front seat passenger can place a laptop or lunch on the 10 kg load capacity pull out tray.

When it comes to safety, the Everest offer dual stage front airbags for both the driver and the passenger. It is the only vehicle in the segment to do so. Side air bags are optional, installed for the driver and front seat passenger to protect the head and thorax, in case impact's source is from the side.

All basic safety features are present in the Everest, such as ABS, EBD or electronic brakeforce distribution and G-Sensor. A PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) is also installed in a Ford Everest for added security. The ignition key is embedded with a unique computer chip so as to ensure that no other key can start the vehicle. A perimeter alarm is also added to work together with PATS. Another basic feature in the Everest Limited models is the reverse parking sensors.
