Our Family ReunionBY: Evelyn Lalisan | Category: Relationships | Submitted: 2010-04-22 18:20:08
How do you define reunions? In simplest terms, it is the gathering of a group of people who meet up in a designated time and place for the sole purpose of seeing each other, updating each other's life activities and simply enjoying the company of everyone else. Reunions may be include family, friends, school mates and other similar organizations or groups. In this case, I was able to attend a reunion- a family reunion on my mother's side. An aunt of mine who hs been based in the Staes for almost 30 years has come home for a two month vacation to meet all her relatives and have bonding time with them. Our family reunion is happy, memorable, fun and full of storytelling or story-swappings from most of the elders. It started as a common invitation to all relatives thru text, phone calls and emails. Pot luck was the deciding factor to beat the costs so everybody had food assignments to bring to the place. The reunion would start from 11 am till early dinner of 6 pm, almost the whole day, in fact. We had it in a clubhouse with a pool so the kids can swim, and even the adults can take a dip, too. When we all gathered at the place at the designated time, the clubhouse was a bit full- we filled it with all relatives. We had plenty of foods like chicken, beef, grilled fish, pastries, candies, bread, muffins and a lot of drinks like sodas, coffee and some red wine and vodka. Everybody talked about the good old days, when they were younger...how they were naughty and could run away with being so, how they performed in school, their school fights, sibling rivalry and everything else in their lives. The younger ones like us just listened and laughed...we contributed our own memories in between to coincide with whatever story was being discussed during the conversations. Suffice to say, a family reunion is a time for bonding and catching up. It is meeting long time friends, relatives and other poeple who have been a part of your life. In my case, most of my relatives, though some of whom I don't remember at all since I was very small when I first met them gave me such memorable share of fun, excitement and memory recalls that really made me feel blessed to have known them and for them to be part of my life. I thank reunions, or whoever came up with that word or made that occasion to happen...I am looking forward to our next family reunion sometime next year. At that time, maybe I have more than enough to share with my relatives and other family members the good things, even the bad things that have or may occur in my life. It would be great to be reunited with them again! Article Source: http://www.writearticles.org/ About Author / Additional Info: Comments on this article: (0 comments so far)
