Paper Organizing Is Not So DifficultBY: Guest User | Category: Self-Improvement | Submitted: 2010-04-25 16:33:53
You probably envy those people who have a well organized home in which everything is in its place. You have to know that their homes are probably not looking like that at all times. If they do, it means that family has either a maid or a lot of free time. The truth is that between job, family, friend and household chores there isn't much time left for organizing the home. Paper organizing is the thing that most people avoid when it comes to organizing things, because they assume it's difficult to do. In fact it's not difficult at all. You just have to find a system that works and to put it in practice and all the mess will be history. Paper organizing must begin with determining what kind of papers you have in the house and with establishing some main categories in which they will fall. It might be just the mail and then you are lucky because this is easy to organize. If you also own a business it means you have different types of paper that lie around the house and need to be organized. Also keep in mind that you need to organize personal documents also. Losing your birth certificate for example can cause a lot of trouble. The first step in paper organizing is to find some containers I which to put your papers. If you don't have a lot of paper work some small containers will do the job. Depending on the case, paper organizing might need some a different number of drawers and boxes. If you have many different categories of papers, put each one into a separate drawer. You can have different drawers for bills, mail, business paper and personal documents. If you also keep the works of art your children do in school, you can also place those in a separate drawer. Once you have done this, you also need to have some folders in order for the paper organizing to be complete. You can place papers in them however you find it easier. In the drawer which contains bills, you can have different folders for paid and unpaid bills or you can sort them by company. Make a special folder for bank statements, tax return bills and pay stubs because these need to be kept for years. It would be a good idea to also have a folder for those papers who don't fall in any category. The most difficult part of paper organizing is not to come up with a system but to also use it. Don't let mail lay around the house for days because it will be more difficult to put it in its place. Put all the papers in their correspondent folders as they appear. Don't forget to check the folders periodically. If you have one for unpaid bills, for example, make sure to look thorough it and to make all the necessary payments in time. A key element in paper organizing is to throw away the papers you don't need any more, otherwise they can create a mess in your house.
