Pregnant Teenagers and AbortionBY: Deidre Dorsett | Category: Issues | Submitted: 2010-06-29 14:17:15
There are many teen girls that have chosen or have fallen into being teen moms. Many think they can handle this and therefore, they tell their parents and figure out what is best. There are some though that finds that there are no other options. Therefore, they think that the only option that they have is to hide it from people and get an abortion. However, from a person who has known many teenage girls who have done this and later find that they regret it, we can tell you what you should know. There are many complications that come from having an abortion. Doctors don't always tell you about these things. Even though they are supposed, they don't. Just because these are things that could happen doesn't mean that they will happen. However, these issues are things that you should be made aware of because these are often bad. For starters, your uterus gets damaged due to the things that they use to do the abortion. You could also run the risk of getting an infection. Some of the infection could be the risk of going into shock and hemorrhaging. It might also cause you to go through a pregnancy again not knowing that you are pregnant. What they really don't discuss is the emotional trauma that a woman goes through when they have an abortion. You feel as though you have lost a part of you. You feel like a murderer. You feel as though you have no reason to live. Many teen girls who go through this find that they don't' have people to talk to. They are too embarrassed to talk to someone they trust. They don't know who they can trust. They don't want their parents to be disappointed in them. Sometimes, teen girls who have had an abortion find that they lose their chance to have another child. The reason for this is that there is so much damage done to the uterus and other areas of that region that they can't conceive again. This is hard on a woman. Therefore, something you have to think about if you or a girl you know is considering having an abortion is if you want to be able to have kids again. This might not be something that can happen depending upon the type of abortion that you or your friend has. Other things that have been linked to teenage women and the issue of abortion is suicide for one. They can't deal with the feelings that they are feeling. Some go to the use of drugs. However, what many teenage girls find is that they are pressured into having an abortion. When this happens they are then forced to go through all these emotions and what not when they shouldn't have to. The main thing to remember is that it's your baby, your body, and basically, it's your decision. Make sure you know all there is to know before you make a definite decision and think about that baby before you decide on anything.
