Whatever is the reason of you being worried about a deleted message, whether it's a cheating spouse or a lost kid, there's a sure way that may help you retrieve deleted texts. Let's see how? Retrieving Deleted Texts Now when you are satisfied reading the fact that you can recover a deleted text message from your iPhone, let's see how it works. First of all before we move any further in learning how to recover deleted messages on iPhone, you need to bear in mind, it is possible only to retrieve those deleted messages which were deleted after the last synchronization with iTunes. It means if the messages are deleted but you have had synchronization with iTunes, you will not be able to recover any message then. The messages deleted prior to the last synchronization won't be recovered and they're probably lost forever. It is because of the fact that text messages stays in the phone after deletion. They remain as 'hidden' files and therefore are there with a status to be deleted. Once you sync your iPhone with iTunes, those marked messages are removed. Following are the basic steps of how to retrieve deleted messages on iPhone 3G. 1. Connect your iPhone with your computer with the help of a USB cord. 2. Once it is connected, stop it to directly connect with iTunes because if iPhone sync with iTunes, you will not be able to recover any of your text messages. 3. Connect iPhone with iTunes manually and take backup by going to preferences then backup from iTunes. Another way to take back-up is, while in iTune windows you can right click your iPhone and then select backup. 4. Under preferences tab you can click 'restore' to restore your iPhone. Make sure you have taken backup completely since upon restoring iPhone when new firmware is installed all data will be completely erased. 5. In this last step the good news will come and you will manage to get back your lost text messages. A window will ask you about confirmation of restore settings and as soon as you hit the Restore tab, you'll be able to receive all your lost contacts, texts, calendar entries and other settings. The key to restoration is the understanding of the distinction between data restore and firmware restore of iPhone. When iPhone data restore is selected, it is possible to get back all that information which you already have as backup on iTunes i.e. your messages, pictures, videos etc along with the marked 'to be deleted' info. Whereas, upon selecting iPhone firmware restore you will end up restoring system and not the user data. IPhone firmware restore is helpful in the event the iPhone system is having certain problems. Trying the above mentioned way of recovering text messages, if you are not satisfied and want to try some other way, you can go for softwares available in the market that can help you recover texts and other lost data from your iPhone. Some of these softwares include, iPhone Backup Extractor (for Mac), SIM Card Data Recovery software etc. If connecting your iPhone to computer hasn't worked, this way may help you recover your lost data. So smile and recover all your important text messages, just keep in mind that you need to recover your text messages or any other lost data before synchronizing your iPhone with iTunes otherwise you may not be able to recover any of it.
