Roses - A Beautiful Way to Keep in Touch With Nature!BY: Anisa Author | Category: Nature | Submitted: 2010-06-28 04:32:14
Roses are a beautiful way to keep in touch with nature. It keeps on reminding you that there is someone who produces things beyond human reach. He is the one who exists and shows his signs by things like roses, water, fire etc. So it is a good way to connect to that super power with the help of his signs. Once you have decided that you want roses in your garden there are many things you need to decide on. The foremost decision in planting a rose plant is to see for the best location. Location selection for rose plantation is as important as you are selecting a place to build your own home or relocating your family to a new place. There are many points one must not forget while deciding the place where the rose plant would stay. There are several questions you must ask yourself before finalizing the location for your rose plant. Is the place where you are planning to sow the rose plant getting sufficient sunlight? Keep in mind that almost all rose plants need at least six hours of direct and unfiltered sunlight a day. Even the rose plants which could grow in shady areas need at about four to six hours of direct sunlight to grow well. What's the quality of the soil in which your plant would grow? Is it enough fertile? This is a very important question because nutritious soil will give you a healthy plant and this is also very true for roses like for many other plants. Roses don't like soil with too much clay or sand. You can test your soil easily for the quantity of clay and sand. Grab a handful of soil if it holds a shape in your hand and does not disintegrate easily, the ratio of clay is higher. If the soil easily disintegrates but does not hold the shape in your hand, the ratio of sand is higher. The soil to be categorized as good soil must hold the shape in your hand but disintegrates easily. Also your soil must not have too much acid, limestone or chalk in it. And finally, you have to decide where you would place your plant in the garden, too close to trees or other plants or far away? Trees and plants extract the water and nutrients from the soil and roots of the plants. If you are digging to plant your roses make sure that the under ground is clear because lot of roots can create problem for your plant by extracting the nutrients from it. Mostly rose plants like to grow between other roses as well as non-invasive plants. Now the location for your rose is finalized and you are confused that how deep the hole should be? You just need to dig a hole that is slightly larger than the size of the pot so that the plant roots can easily fix in it. Moreover the depth of the hole also depends upon the climate that you live in. In colder places it is recommended that the hole should be slightly deeper. It is good to talk to other rose growers in the area to know the proper depth for your rose plant. Now it's time to place some compost in the bottom of the hole. Sprinkle the bone meal as it is a source of Phosphorus which is slow acting and help roots grow healthy. Spread out the roots slightly after you place the plant into the hole. Refill and make sure that the compost settles perfectly. Add some water before covering with the soil. Now pour soil and give it a final touch by firming it slightly. Add some more water on it at the end. Organic Rose Gardening - A New Trend: Rose lovers have started preferring organic rose gardening keeping in view the fact that rose gardens can grow gorgeous without using human made chemicals. Organic rose gardening increases the life of the roses. It allows roses to grow naturally by following the natural procedure in which the plants use their roots to absorb water and nutrients from the soil. They make energy by using sunlight and water, a process called photosynthesis. There are bacteria, fungus, nematodes, worms, plus other organisms already present in the soil which break the dead material present in the soil - a natural process by which the soil is enriched. This natural procedure is much easier and helps grow your roses without any artificial support.
