If you are the type of person who can't say the word 'no' to anyone, then you are in trouble. It makes you susceptible to people who would take advantage of your kindness; sometimes even abuse your kind of attitude. Nonetheless, you must put a stop to your not so good habit of saying no, without really offending anyone. These are good ways to say 'no' the proper way, and you won't even feel guilty if you do it.

If you have close relatives who have imposed on you to look after their pets, say like their cats, then this time you have to properly say no. Just be direct in a subtle way that you can't look after them at this time; then offer help and advise them of a good caring service for cats. You can even recommend some neighbours who love cats to act as babysitters for the cats.

If you work for a company, chances are you would be experiencing some company contributions for a party or for some employees for some reasons or the other. You can contribute a few dollars if it would be for your boss or employee you work with, but beyond that, you may actually have to say no. You may have to let them know that you would be able to contribute only a certain amount for some close colleagues you work with. By setting those limits, then you are implying your say on such situations.

If you are being asked to head the school's PTA and you have done so for the past so many years, then it is your turn to say 'no' at this time. You can probably come up with reasons that every parent should be given the chance to do so; or you can directly say you are busy and don't have the time but would be probably help in your free time. This way you are setting the trend that you are not the only capable one to head such school activity.

If you receive too many invitations to social gatherings such as parties and weddings, you may actually decide to say 'no' to some of them, Choose the ones that are important to you. The others you have to say no to must be stated in such a way that you are thankful for the invitation and that they have thought of you, but it's just unfortunate that your schedule is full. Show appreciation when sending your thanks and regrets.

There may be other situations when you have to say 'no'. The key to remember here is that you must be the one to actually decide if you want to do it or not. Try to base your decisions on the importance, significance and the impact of your decision. It may be hard at first because you have this habit, but if you are trying to change for the better, you may have to do it and be assured of yourself. No guilty feelings and no regrets. Just say 'no' because you have to, you want to and nobody can take that away from you.
