The body needs to be re-energized every so often to keep it healthy and well- functioning. So to keep a healthy body you eat a regular balanced diet, do regular exercise, avoid stress and stay away from bad habits. But then, your body still needs some help in getting rid of toxins and wastes. These toxins may have come from the processed foods we eat, pesticides from food crops, from plastic containers and other similar products. The body has a self-cleaning process through its natural functions of elimination, but you still need to do some more to properly help in the total elimination of toxins inside you.

That is why there is such a method called self- detox. This is basically a means to get rid of toxins inside your body system. The overflow of the toxins that get into your bodily functions such as the lungs, liver, kidneys, blood stream, bodily cells and other parts are properly cleansed. You would decide to have a detox if you feel unpleasant and uncomfortable feelings in your being such as difficulty in focusing, irritability, depression and anxiety, stomach cramps and aches, skin outbreaks, allergies and infections, muscle and joint pains and other similar over all body weakness.

You can do self-detox at home. Start in the morning by squeezing a lemon into a glass of warm water, then drinking it before having your breakfast. The lemon stimulates the liver to discharge toxins and help clean out the intestines.

Take in a probiotic food supplement on an empty stomach. One type is acidophilus, a kind of good bacteria and yeast which helps in the proper functions of the stomach. This helps maintain balance and hastens the detoxification process.

Have a detox breakfast. You can choose to eat brown rice or any whole grain cereal without any sugar and preservatives. You can combine with unflavored soya milk. For lunch and dinner, you can eat any groupings of vegetables, soy products, organic chicken, turkey, oat bran, beans and brown rice. This should fill up your appetite and re-energize you. If you are feeling a bit tired or weak, you can try eating these food combinations in smaller portions to help your digestion and go through with your detoxification procedure.

Remember to eat plenty of green leafy vegetables daily while having your detox. These vegetables help increase red blood cells in your system thus resulting to better blood circulation. The detoxification process in your body also continues to go well.

You can make a good detox broth by combining all these natural ingredients in a large container with water then boil till everything is soft. These ingredients are fresh ginger, cabbage, mustard greens, leeks, Brussels sprouts, dandelion, garlic, watercress, radish, kale, seaweed, Swiss chard, collards, shitake mushroom, cilantro, fresh fennel, anise and turmeric. You can place this mixture in the fridge up to three days.

You can also make a detox juice made from a mixture of Aloe Vera juice (found in health stores) parsley, carrot and carrot greens, apples, cabbage, beets, celery, asparagus and cucumbers. You can all blend these together. If you decide to buy a ready made vegetable juice make sure that it has no preservatives, salt or any other chemicals in it.

To supplement your detox try to take a daily dose of 1 tbsp of flaxseed oil or walnut oil. You can also choose deep-sea fish oil as another good supplement. You can also drink decaffeinated green tea. This is a healthful drink because it contains a lot of antioxidants. You can also take Dandelion and Milk Thistle which would help protect your liver during your detox. You may as well drink ginger tea made from fresh ginger roots to help clean your kidneys. This also helps in easier bowel movement.

There is also a good herbal formula called Internal Cleanse which is made from a combination of natural herbs to assist in better detox, facilitate easy digestion, calm the nerves, relaxes the mind and maintains emotional balance.

Try a good Detox soak for about 20 minutes each day while having your detox process. This herbal bath may revitalize your body with the combination of natural ingredients such as peppermint, eucalyptus, Epsom salts, wintergreen, cinnamon and fennel. This bath soak helps flush out toxins from your body when these natural ingredients penetrate deep into your skin.

You can do detoxification in your home any time. It is just a matter of knowing how to go about it. You can start doing it for a day, then increasing gradually up to five days. Then you would feel good and rejuvenated. You can do the cycle every time you feel your body needs a recharge. Doing self-detox is an effective way of keeping yourself healthy by using natural ways and natural ingredients. It is a natural body cleansing that is a good practice to follow throughout your lifetime.
