Getting a high salaried job in today's tough job market is equivalent to reaching at the peak of Mount Everest. Few years back getting a job was not that big issue but today's world has set a standard; you might meet the job requirements but someone more qualified and experienced would also be in queue for the same job and will ultimately win the race. In such situation to compete is becoming tough day by day. To sell yourself in today's tough job market better than others you need to make yourself different from other candidates through your knowledge and a specified set of skills. Have you ever heard about personal branding? What is personal branding? Personal branding is not putting a shirt having your name or slogan on it; instead it is a mixture of many qualities specific to your personality. You must know what you are best at in order to cash that quality. Creating a personal brand for yourself is utmost important because it distinguish you from your colleagues as well as your competitors. So learn to use your qualities in a fruitful manner and boost up your career. What you can do to make your qualities a source of your personal brand? You can combine your qualities to achieve the results by your creativity, by using best approach to the issues, by having a better understanding of what you are doing and what you have done and most importantly by managing the limited available resources in a positive and fruitful manner while at work. According to experts a person having three qualities can be successful in today's job market, one who creative, diligent, and self driven. To develop these qualities one should strive from his/her student life. A student should take part in activities like scouting, competitions, and student's organizations, he / she must get advantage of university resources like career counsel boards, university job placement services for their benefit. A student have to keep good relationships with the classmates as well as professors and if possible with other students at the university. In future they could be a great source of getting high salaried job by endorsing you to some post at any company where they have access and links. While searching for any job take help from the people around you, there suggestions and reference will be your plus point in getting the job. Remember a good reference will increase your price in the job market. The job market is not only challenging for fresh candidates but the experienced people are also affected with the current situation. Experienced people are afraid of switching their jobs because they think that a fresh candidate will have a higher degree and is equipped with new knowledge and modern techniques. Whereas the fresh candidate thinks that there are thousands of experienced people running behind jobs so how will I get good job. Both fresh and experienced candidates are right, but if you are competent and if you have the right set of skills you can take lead even from the person sitting in a higher position. Your degree and number of years is useless unless and until you prove that you can do the work perfectly. Another important thing in securing a good job is your resume and cover letter. Whatever you write should make sense and meet the following guidelines: • Read it twice before singing and sending it. • Avoid spelling mistakes otherwise your letter might fail to capture reader's attention. • Make your message clear and understandable. • Put things in a proper sequence. • Look carefully for the names, addresses and titles. • Check for grammatical errors and punctuations. • Put your complete signature and contact number. If you want to sell yourself in today's world you have to keep yourself up-to-date not only with your own field but also with other fields. Be a specialist in your area and know about others too. Be fast to keep pace with this fast moving world; there is no excuse for those who don't care for time. Avail the opportunities as they come your way because once gone, it will never come back.
