Some People Are Fortunate, Some Others Are Not.BY: Alessandro Saetta Vinci | Category: Self-Improvement | Submitted: 2010-04-18 09:06:07
Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson began one of his articles pretty much with these same words. He used this entry line to begin writing an article about Sebastian Faulks (One of the major authors for 007 books) and his new James Bond novel. Jeremy didn't go any further into this topic so, since it's Sunday and NOT raining and I hate Sundays, I think I'll have a go at it. Unfortunately for all of us, we live in countries that are forced to be mainly democratically, politically and idiotically correct. At all costs. That surely has some good impact on our day to day lives but at the same time it does present some drawbacks. It doesn't prepare us for real life. We're all meant to have the same rights and possibilities and do you want to know what's the most important thing to anyone, especially to politicians? Fame? Richness? Money? Women? No. Consent. We don't want money to buy expensive supercars or fancy new clothes, we want money to buy expensive supercars and fancy new clothes so that other people will see how bloody "cool" we are. That's it. Our ultimate goal is to get consent and possibly envy from other people. So what should a politician do in order to get consent? Give us things? Be honest? A politician is basically obliged to grant that each and every one of us, not only has equal rights but is also equal to his fellow man. We are all equals. Yeah. Right. I have a friend, she is a very good person, gentle, kind and always up for anything. Unfortunately she was born with a serious leg problem and she'll never be able to walk correctly and without any help from canes or crutches, she's even got a problem with her skin. How in the world could you say her luck was equal to the luck of another girl who was born good looking and rich? You see I was born 22 years ago, son of an accountant and a graphic designer and every friday night my team plays football versus the team of a friend of mine born son of a very very very rich businessman. I have to work, and work hard to make a living and to get things that he already has without any sort of effort. Would you say our luck is equal? This doesn't mean that he's got a better life than I have, or that if you were born with less fortune and options than someone else your life is over. It only means you'll have to work harder. But accepting what you have and trying to work to get better, instead of thinking about what you haven't got, it's simply being clever. Envy won't you get anywhere. Whereas cleverness....
