The Entertainment industry is an exciting line of work composed of different artists in their respective fields. Celebrities have their own niche and all of them are popularly known throughout the world. The celebrities may be involved in many aspects in the entertainment field such as music, TV/film/movies and theater. Just like any other fields of specialization such as literature, science, government and social service, the entertainment industry has come up with various awards to pay tribute and honor their artists. If awards may be given to scientists, social workers, literature writers and government officials, why not in the entertainment industry, too? In context, an award is given to an individual or a group of people who have given outstanding service or contribution to the field where they excel. It can come in the form of a trophy, cash, certificate, a medal, plaque, title or badge. Some of the more popular types of awards are the Nobel Prize, Pulitzer Prize, Magsaysay Award, Man of the Year award and some similar others. In the entertainment industry some the popular awards given are the Oscars, Grammy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, MTV Music Awards, Country Music Awards and Emmy Awards. The Oscars is one of the oldest awards in the entertainment industry. It is also one of the most respected, one of the most important and one of the most prestigious awards in its field. It has a voting of about 6,000 active members, the majority of which are actors. The voting members vote in categories and the nominee gathering the biggest number of votes is declared as the winner. The results are professionally tabulated by an auditing firm. The award is the Oscar statuette made of gold-plated Britannia. The honor or award is given to directors, writers and actors of the film industry of America. The Grammy Awards was earlier known as the Gramophone Awards. The trophy is shaped like a miniature golden record player. This is given to artists of the music industry like the singers, composers, arrangers and other musicians. The Country Music Awards are for the musicians who are into country music that have contributed a lot of diversity in American music. The Golden Globes Awards honor actors, directors, writers and others for TV/film. The MTV Awards is relatively new compared to the other awards since this is really more about music, videos and the artistry of the video and audio expertise combined. As for the Emmys, it is also an award to honor TV/film actors and other artists in their line of work. Suffice to say, the entertainment awards are given in due recognition of the people who have devoted their time and talent to the industry. These award ceremonies are given good exposure by being televised and advertised. The so- called red carpet is one event that spectators, fans and even the celebrities themselves look forward to in the awards night.
