Whenever it comes to diet we are always confused which one to follow. There are so many different diet plans available in books and on internet that we are almost lost finding one for ourselves. It is a fact that people usually follow a diet plan to reduce weight but yet another reason to follow a diet, which is recently becoming widely popular, is detoxification. Well, detoxification is a process of cleansing ones body and to remove all the wastes that have been accumulating inside ones body for so many years. These are the wastes which are produced inside our body due to many chemical reactions or the waste which we eat along with the food or impurity which we take in with water. Moreover in the atmosphere there is smoke, pollution, pesticides, chemicals or with alcohol or cigarettes we take in the toxins, which keep on heaping inside our body. Thus it needs to be removed at some time in ones life.

There are different ways to detoxify i.e. to remove all these toxins from our body through bowel or urine. The Lemonade diet is considered one of the ways to detoxify. In this diet the dieter takes the lemon juice (including maple syrup) and laxatives for a minimum of ten days and it is said that all the waste is removed from the body and the person feels more relaxed and lighter. Now the question is whether this diet is good for health or not? Well, experts have different opinion on it. Some says it good while others don't appreciate it.

If we analyze this question logically we will find out that it is difficult to carry on with less food and yet perform all the tasks. One may feel weak and ill. This is a fast-type diet and it is also used to remove excess fats from the body. Tough if completed properly it show results but fast weight loss is only temporary and the dieter will put on the weight as soon as he/she returns back to the normal eating routine. The followers of this diet plan claims that they don't put on weight as they follow ease-out phase i.e. a pro-diet phase in which the dieter returns back to normal eating slowly and not at once. But then again the diet itself is difficult to carry on for the period of ten days and some people even can't complete a single day on lemonade juice only.

Other than feeling weak and rapid weight gain after the diet (if ease-out is not done properly) there may be some other disadvantages of undergoing the lemonade diet, these include:

• As the diet offers extremely different eating plan thus body feels it difficult to adjust to this new pattern.
• It alters ones blood pressure and sugar levels, thus if you have any medical issues, you should consult your physician before undergoing the lemonade diet.
• If you intake calories less than 1200 per day, it can be dangerous for your health, thus you need to follow the lemonade diet recipe exactly as it is.
• During this detoxification process you may feel nausea and vomiting. You may also experience headache and extra cravings.
• It may cause dehydration thus it is recommended to drink water frequently while on this diet.

If you think this diet could be beneficial for you, you need to follow it with full confidence and commitment without cheating to get its maximum benefits. Avoid following mistakes while on the lemonade diet:

• Don't consume less than 11 to 12 lemonade glasses a day to fulfill daily body calorie requirement.
• Go for grade B maple syrup only as it is genuine and give maximum benefits. Don't go for sugary or flavored one.
• Take water in between lemonade servings to avoid dehydration.
• Go for purified water, as otherwise you will again end up accumulating contamination from the germs of tap water.
• Go for organic lemons, as they are grown naturally.
• Make the lemonade drink exactly as it is stated by the experts to make sure you are getting enough nutrients to keep you going.
• Do ease-in and ease-out to start and end the lemonade diet easily and to gain desired results.
