The education of people through internet has become a reality. There are various methods of learning through internet. Over the past few years in the last decade or two, the role of internet in the lives of each and every person in this world has increased to a great extent. The education of people in many formal and also informal methods have been started through various web sites. This has caused many lay people to understand concepts that they never understood before. This article lists the methods of educating various groups of people through internet and the role played by internet in education of people. 1. Formal education: There are many methods in which people are able to get formal education through the internet. There are many schools and also colleges that are placed in remote areas of the world where there are no adequate infrastructure available. Other than the lack of infrastructure, there is also a dearth of quality teachers in these places. This makes it imperative for the presence of internet for these people in such remote place to learn. The presence of internet through improved communication facilities in every nook and corner of the earth has been a great plus. Instead of classroom teaching, the children have teaching through the internet where they are able to ask their doubts to their teachers in far away places. All this has made the education to reach places unreached and has also improved the quality of education. 2. Informal education: There are also various informal education methods that are used by the people from all parts of the world to learn new things on the internet. There are free lessons on learning to play the guitar and there are lessons on the methods of building a website by designing it. There are various other things that are technical and non technical that can be learnt on the internet. These are put to the maximum use by all kinds of people and they learn all these possible things from the internet. The only disadvantage of these informal methods of learning is that the lessons that are provided free of cost cannot be always reliable as these are not of good quality. 3. Educational and tuition sites: There are also many tuition and educational sites that are present on the internet that also can be used by the person to learn many things. These sites are at times supported with funds from various organizations and also governments and so provide educational opportunities for the under privileged. These educational systems are the best methods of providing learning for the masses. The role of internet and computers in education of people in all parts of the world has been on the rise. It is sure to be more important in the near future. In fact, there could be a time when the children and the adults of the world are all dependant on computers and internet for all their educational needs instead of text books.
