If you love your heart then you must keep it healthy. You must know which foods are friendly to your heart. These foods are the types which you may find tasteful so you can indulge in eating often. All you have to do is include these in your daily diet.

1. Sardines
These small types of fish are rich in Omega- 3 fatty acids that reduce the extra fatty upsurge of your heart. It also lessens occurrences of abnormal heart rates and helps prevent swelling of the arteries. Research show that those who eat fish 3 times a week reduced the risk of heart disease by about 31%. Other canned fish that are similar to sardines are canned light tuna and salmon.

2. Whole grain bread
If you like some good carbohydrates, then this is the best option you have. It contains fiber which is good for your heart. Fiber helps reduce blood cholesterol levels and reduces the risk of heart ailment. Whole grain bread is also low in calories but the fiber in it makes you full and satisfied. A daily portion would keep your heart healthy and your body trim and fit as well.

3. Peanut butter
This has polyunsaturated fat that lessens bad cholesterol levels. This helps the blood vessels surrounding the heart function better. Keep your serving to one tbsp a day complemented with whole grain bread for a healthy meal. If you want something else a bit different, you can substitute with about half a cup of plain nuts like walnuts which contain a lot of good fat for the heart.

4. Avocado
this fruit is rich in foliates that may help reduce the risk of heart attacks and helps in maintaining your proper cholesterol levels. You can eat a half avocado to keep your heart healthy. Use it in a salad with other fruits or veggies, eat it as it is, and blend it to make a good healthy smoothie or juice.

5. Dark chocolate
This type of chocolate is good for your heart because it contains flavonoids that help in good blood circulation. Taking a few ounces of dark chocolate daily can help balance your blood pressure. You can eat dark chocolate which contains at least 70% cocoa based on studies which showed that doing so would benefit the heart. Keep you servings of dark chocolate to two regular (small squares) sizes about 3 or 4 times a week.

Remember to keep in mind these healthy heart foods in your diet. Combined with your daily regimen of exercise, healthy habits and clean life style, your heart will be content and will always be in the pink of health.
