To Stay Or Not to Stay?BY: Deidre Dorsett | Category: Religion | Submitted: 2010-07-12 13:34:36
Some people find that when they go to a church and the church starts having problems, it could cause quite uproar. There are many who wonder on what terms many think its right to leave a church. What would some of those reasons be? Many will tell you that if you don't feel as though you are getting spiritually fed, then you should leave. The whole point of going to church is to feed you with knowledge about the bible, what God expects of us, as well as how to lead a life according to the Bible. If we aren't learning how to do that, then there is something wrong. Many leave due to the fact that they are burned out and sometimes this has to be done. There are many churches where people just don't want to step in and do things for the church or there aren't that many people there. Therefore, people are getting burned out as it's the same people picking up the slack. This is not the way to function. Now, there are times that people leave because they have a problem with people in the church. However, running from this isn't going to solve anything. You want to keep the friends you have in the church and by associating with these people, they might talk about this person. Plus, the Bible teaches us that we are to confront these people when we have issues with them. Sometimes you are able to work past these things. In other cases, you might be forced to leave. Some are asked to leave due to something that they have done. My own church has done this to a person. It doesn't mean its right, but in some cases, the church has to take a stand to ensure the parishioners are cared for. If there is someone in there that is disruptive and patronizing, then you should deal with this. There are many who leave due to practices of the church. However, depending on your situation, we don't always agree on this. The reason that we do this is because of the fact that if you have been there your whole life okay. However, but for those of you who go about and just joined the church not that long ago, this is something that you should have looked into. Plus, there are some things that we don't always like to do, but we do them anyways. In some instances, some leave because they don't like the music or things of that nature. How is that being open? Think before you act. There are some things that can be done differently if only you speak up. However, it has to be a personal choice. The church is there to help you grow as a member. They shouldn't talk down to you or judge you and sadly enough, many have gone through this and this just should not be allowed. If you aren't sure that you should leave, then we advise you to talk to someone about it.
