Bar Rouge Location: 18 Zhongshan Dong Yi Lu Neighborhood: The Bund Phone: +86 21 6339 1199 Bar Rouge began its humble beginnings five years ago. With just the plain concept of offering something new in the Shanghainese nightlife, Bar Rouge invaded the clubbing scene by bringing the "French touch" into town. Over the years, the founders continued to offer new ideas which had always kept their guests' interest. It's no wonder this place is regarded as the most famous club in Shanghai, setting the standard for Bund nightlife, offering a terrace view of Shanghai's space-age skyline. It also has a classy, sleek interiors and iconic French-Shanghai identity with a striking décor which is a mixture of traditional Chinese and 21st Century design. Can't hold off for the weekend? Visit Bar Rouge on Thursdays as it is actually a themed-party night. If you can't just yet, the bar also opens early in the morning during Fridays and Saturdays. Enjoy perfectly mixed cocktails while listening to the cool, powerful music vibes of their resident DJ's. Bar rouge also supports them in developing their own musical identity. Be the first to be thrilled and also experience exciting concepts and new trends that Bar Rouge offers from time to time. Muse Location: 68 Yuyao Lu Neighborhood: Jing'an Phone: +86 21 5213 5228 You just might find your very own muse when you come to Muse from the throngs of beautiful women that frequent this Shanghai nightlife institution. If not initially, you may find your muse after having a number of their cocktails. Either way, you're in for a good time with equally good drinks that you can enjoy at one of the numerous tables available at this two-story club/lounge. Multiple floors means multiple bars and music and so if you aren't feeling one floor you can simply move up or down to find the happening scene. With its post-modern decor and sleek and stylish interior, Muse is sure to attract a mixed crowd that is ready to mingle. So if you want to go to the place to see or be seen, you can't go wrong with a trip to Muse. MAO Location: 46 Yueyang Lu Neighborhood: French Concession Phone: +158 0039 1942 Mao may not be able to offer the usual Bund club scene atmosphere but is nevertheless a fresh and unique breakaway from popular, highly-commercialized and congested spots. Be fascinated with the outdoor garden that seemed like a surrounding oasis in its almost 360 view. Positioned right by the beach, it offers you luxurious pleasure and service whether you enjoy its modern facilities during the day or go clubbing at night. If you prefer a secluded space though, they also have semi-private rooms for a quick change of environment within the same space. Club Mao is also an oasis of music and lavish cocktails, all imported directly from Monaco. The branch on Dongping Lu is a haven for the Italian community as their weekends are theme-inspired parties. Dance 'til you drop because this club stays open late - dance floor can still be jam-packed at 7am! Groove into that Euro-electro-heavy-thumping music while you adore gorgeous models that frequents the place. Gentlemen should have their fat wallet ready as only the ladies are entitled for free entrance. Be captivated with its fascinating décor as you experience the contrast of the peace and tranquility with the wildness and debauchery at club Mao. Reserve a seat or just pop in, everyone is invited! M1NT Location: 318 Fuzhou Lu Neighborhood: The Bund Phone: +86 21 6391 2811 A nightclub originally set up in London, M1NT was a private members club which used to earn great publicity due to its unique business model. Right now M1NT is a modern day members club with locations in Hong Kong and Shanghai. More than just a hip nightclub, M1NT also takes pride of its world-class restaurant and stylish lounge bar. The one in Shanghai is located at the 24th floor; its floor-to-ceiling windows will definitely give you an advantage in getting the jaw-dropping 360 degree view of the Bund, People's Square, Pudong, Nanjing Road, and Huaihai Road. Be thrilled and fascinated with more than 20 black and white, reef-tip sharks inside a 17-meter long tank on its entrance ways. The interior is generally a mixture of East and West culture; chic and cool. It also has a private room called The Vault or "Director's Box" which they say is the best spot in town to have a private party. City Weekend Awards 2009 gave M1NT Shanghai awards like Best New Club, Best Cocktails, Best Bartender, and Best Nightlife Bathroom. Both M1NT locations offer a relaxed yet sophisticated environment for its members and non-members alike. The restaurant and grill is open to everyone, everyday while the lounge is restricted to members only on Fridays and Saturdays. The M1NT club itself is strictly for members only. Sin Location: No. 211 Shimen Yi Lu Neighborhood: Jing'an Phone: +86 21 6267 7779 As the name of the club suggests, this trendy nightclub is the haven for a night of debauchery. While a club named "Sin" would figure to be up to no good, the luxurious decor would seem to suggest that maybe being bad is in fact good at least when it comes to partying. With a layout that includes a separate bar area and upstairs VIP rooms, there is a lot more breathing room at this venue than perhaps other nightclubs. If that isn't enough to entice you, Sin seduces patrons with its gorgeous view of Nanjing Lu while you sip or dine from the eclectic fusion menu at the lounge's impressive terrace area. When it's time to dance, Sin pumps it up with outstanding DJs, a sexy wait-staff, and sinfully good cocktails. With glowing chandeliers and vivacious colors, this posh club is a chic and sexy good time.
