Shopping is one of the most popular hobbies and humans just love to buy stuff. We just can't stop ourselves from buying new things unless and until we are short of money. But yet another fact is that shopping consumes a lot of time and in today's fast moving world, we can't find enough time to give to our lovely hobby. Nevertheless we can shop online where we can also have unlimited access to the products with different price ranges and their reviews too. But this is electronic media and there are lots of scams and frauds waiting for the new customers, so one must be familiar with the different techniques while shopping online. Below are the top ten mistakes which one should avoid while shopping online. Going for High Price Product Sometimes we purchase products by visiting two or three websites; this is totally wrong because there might be some other vendors that sell the same product in lower price or offer certain discounts (a common trend in online stores). Therefore you must search for at least 8 to 10 websites before making any purchase decision. Don't run to buy the product at once, stay calm and make a wise decision. Delivery Issues and Shipping Costs There could be many issues in the product delivery when you purchase online like some courier companies may not be on-time due to heavy load of deliveries or late dispatch of the products from the outlets etc. So be ready for the unexpected delays in delivery of your product and order in advance so as to get the product well in time. Moreover look for the shipping cost as it may be higher in some cases upsetting your budget. Wrong Shipping Destination Always check the shipping destination carefully because if you are a regular customer and your details are saved in the website the product will be delivered to that address. So when you want the product to be delivered at some other address (to your friends etc) don't forget to change the address. Make sure you are not in a habit of clicking each time without confirming your destination address and name so as to make sure that the product is delivered to the right person at the right time. Purchasing through Email Marketing You will receive lots of emails from different companies marketing their products, but don't respond to scam emails as it will waste your money as well as time. Before deciding, make sure that the website is genuine and their business is legitimate and beware of the web crime! Using Personal Email Address Avoid using your personal email address while going for online shopping to avoid scam emails. Create a new email id for shopping purposes and always use that email instead of your personal email address. Losing Track of your Purchases Use one credit card for online shopping; it is good to keep track of your money. It not only helps you track down your purchasing records but you will also be safe from other money issues like over-consumption, financial burden or losing track etc. Take print out of the purchase-slips and make a file so that you can have a look when you need to verify. Overlooking Product details Before placing an order carefully read the specifications of the product. Don't forget to cross check different available models. Avoid going for the products just after looking at the model number; it is recommended to read the reviews whenever possible. Wrong Perception about Product Quality This is another important aspect of online purchasing because you can't see or touch the product physically therefore it is recommended to verify product quality through different sources, you can go for product reviews or ask any friends or relatives of yours who used to make online purchases. Costly Return Policies Before purchasing look for return policies as some stores have really high re-stocking fees. It is important as it is helps in case if you don't like the product or have received broken or defective product. Rushed Purchases It is recommended to avoid 1-Click purchases (unless it's your personal PC) as it will cause your personal details to get saved on the computer. Stay calm and be a savvy online purchaser. Look for the expiry date of your card as the online systems don't check it which may cause delay in the delivery of your important products.
