Lofoten Island is one of the hidden gems of Norway to offer excellent opportunities for vacationers. The place is rich in natural beauty and every wonder of nature is associated with a human created vacation enjoyment. There are islands, sea views, beaches, mountains, peaks, reefs and what not. You will find everything there. There are many attractions of Lofoten Island which you can visit as a tourist; following are a few to discuss: Fishing village of Nusfjord Lofoten Island is popular among locals as well as foreigners for its fishing. There are many villages and museums which totally revolve around the theme of fishing for the tourists to enjoy. The most popular island for nesting birds is the island of Røst. The island of Moskenes You will love to see different islands that come on your way to Lofoten Norway. You can take a boat trip in the most dangerous maelstrom, Moskstrømmen. Keep yourself ready to see many old settlements like Kollhellaren cave which is around 3000 year old etc. Eggum and Unstad Villages Although there are many fishing villages in Lofoten Island but Eggum and Unstad villages are popular for its pebbled beach and camping sites respectively. At Eggum you can have a walk near beach and enjoy the natural beauty there. This beach also gives the opportunity to see midnight sun which is the attraction for many tourists. Moreover at Unstad you can enjoy camping; it also gives you surfing facilities. Henningsvær For fishing lovers there is no other more enjoyable place in Lofoten than Henningsvær. You will find many fishing opportunities there and can have with your whole family. Not only fishing, the area is also rich in natural beauty with mountains top and sea surroundings. So you can enjoy the above mentioned places during your trip to Lofoten Island. They will surely give you an experience which you can't forget till the rest of your life. Following are some of the activities for outdoor enthusiasts. These activities will increase your enjoyment as you can enjoy nature along with performing many other heart throbbing and fun activities. 1. Fishing: People travel Lofoten for fishing, so it's a must! Fishing is the specialty of Lofoten Island. Many villages, museums and other attractions revolve around fishing theme. If you truly want to enjoy fishing book your accommodation at any of the rorbu cabins so as to have a whole fishing feel. 2. Northern Lights: Lofoten Island has it too! Many people who have heard about the northern lights can find it in Lofoten. These auroral lights are so wonderful that you think you have seen something mystical and heavenly. To enjoy northern lights to their full intensity see between 6pm to 1am and the best months to have the view is February, March and October. 3. Rafting: For extreme fun lovers, rafting is a must-go experience. This experience is enhanced even further with the surrounding wonderful mountainous view. 4. Golfing: Golfers can enjoy day and night golf in Lofoten and I bet they can never forget this experience of having the play with natural scenery around. 5. Safaris: You can enjoy wildlife upon your visit to Lofoten. Get ready, sea eagles and killer whales are there to welcome you and you can take passenger boats to enjoy it collectively with other wildlife lovers. 6. Kayaking: Kayaking can be best enjoyed at Lofoten's mountainous archipelago, so don't miss it! 7. Mountaineering and Cycling: Lofoten is rich in mountains and have many bike and cycle trails and tracks, so enjoy along with natural views. 8. Traditional Food Marts and Museums: Lofoten has its own unique culture and the food also have different taste. There are museums as well to enjoy. Both restaurants and museums have fishing theme.
