The Philippines is an Asian country that is composed of more than 7,000 islands that are stretched out far and wide. It is a popular tourist destination for many foreigners who have travelled far to enjoy its beautiful scenery, rich culture, delicious local foods and best of all, enjoy the Filipinos' warmth, friendliness and hospitality. There are good scenic spots you can go to and some of these are just a few of the places that must be on top of your must- see list when you travel there.

The beaches are great for swimming, dipping and doing water sports activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, boating or jet skiing. The Boracay Beach, world known for its clear waters and fine white sand is a good place to start. It is a paradise island in itself where you can enjoy the warm waters, lay on the fine sands and enjoy the coolest drinks served for you. There are many first rate lodges and hotels where you can stay right in front of the beach. There are also varied restaurants you can go to and sample the rich and delicious local foods. During night time, there are a lot of merry-making activities on the beach, or you can go to discos to enjoy the music, dance to your heart's content and simply have fun all night long. You also get to fully enjoy the hospitality and friendliness of the Filipino people which to date is incomparable to other nationalities. That is according to almost all tourists who have experienced this kind of treatment!

The Chocolate Hills in Bohol is also a great destination. These are like cone-shaped hills that look uniformly alike. There are more than 1,000 of these hills and much wonder has been attributed to how these were formed. There is no clear cut explanation if the hills were man-made or they were naturally just like that as nature made them to be. During the rainy season, the hills are green. During the hot weather, they become chocolate in color- that's how they have become to be well-known for.

The Banaue Rice Terraces were built by hand by the Batad ancestors of the Ifugaos more than 2,000 years ago. The Ifugaos is a famous tribe of the place. This area is about 5,000 feet above sea level. It has an area of approximately 400 square miles of the mountainside
This tourist destination is also referred to as the 'staircase to the sky'.

Metro Manila is a site in itself. It is known as the City of the Bay. You can actually enjoy the sunset in Manila Bay. Watching the sunset in Manila is a glorious experience, a most wonderful sight which most tourists enjoy. Aside from the sunset, you can enjoy the city thru the different restaurants, shopping malls and nightlife. There are also different places you can visit in Manila such as the Walls of Intramuros, the Rizal Park, the Fort Santiago, the Manila Cathedral and San Agustin Churches, Casa de Manila and you can also enjoy the old buildings that have their own histories to tell.

About two hours or less away from Manila is a cool place called Tagaytay. The weather is cooling similar to that of Baguio City, a mountain side area up north of the Philippines. Tagaytay is a lot nearer and more convenient to travel to and offers good attractions as well. You can get to view the world's smallest volcano, which is the Taal volcano. This is situated within a lake known as the Taal Lake. The view is amazing and many tourists have taken photographs of the place. You can go hiking, horse riding or just explore around. There is the Tagaytay picnic ground where you can enjoy good food, enjoy the scenery and the weather and basically relax and appreciate nature at one of its best.

The Corregidor Island is a scenic spot in remembrance of the WWII atrocities. This is the place where Americans and Filipinos fought the Japanese before the country was eventually conquered. It is also the place where General Macarthur said his famous words of promise to the Filipinos "I shall return". The remains of the barracks, cannons and other war artilleries are displayed there for all to see.

A favorite place outside of Manila is Cebu City. Attractions here are the Magellan Cross which is over 500 years old and is the symbol of Christianity in the Philippines. Then there is the Fort San Pedro which is the smallest fort in the country and the oldest Christian church of the country- the Basilica Minore del Sto. Nino. Cebu also has local beaches where you can go snorkeling and scuba diving and you also enjoy the coral reefs.

The Palawan Island is well known for the under ground river- St. Paul Subterranean River National Park. This is located in Puerto Princesa in Palawan and is about 8.2 km and considered to be the longest river in the world. The tour can only go as far as 1.3 km. The river goes directly out into the South of the China Sea. The tour is quite an exciting adventure since you would be able to appreciate the rock structures inside the cave, you are in the dark (some lighting possible) while navigating inside the river and you would
be able to appreciate this side of nature that is being offered.

If you love travelling and you enjoy and appreciate learning about different cultures, you might as well consider travelling to this side of Southeast Asia and enjoy what the Philippines can offer. Most tourists enjoy the sights, foods, culture and the hospitality of the people. Better yet, Filipinos speak English and are also diverse in some other forms of languages. You won't feel lost because the people are helpful, and you won't feel homesick either because they would make sure you would feel right at home with their warmth and friendliness.
