Video blogging is certainly in fashion and still booming. Think of YouTube and you will understand what I mean. You might even remember the big hits such as the Star Wars kid, the Numa Numa guy, Charlie the Unicorn, The Evolution of Dance or the rather sad cases such as the lonelygirl15 or the infamous Chris Cricker. Video blogging means directly showing whatever it is that you have to show - huge talent, funny moments, empty opinions, or shameless self-promotion. Images and sound always had the greatest impact on people, and this is why video blogging goes viral way more often and easier than usual blogging does. With a single viral video you can get famous overnight easier than ever.

But what made video blogging so popular? There isn't a definitive answer to this question, but chances are that it just makes it easy for people to do something that they always did and always enjoyed - express themselves. Moreover, right now video blogging is also a rising trend and thus some people might do it just for that. There are also skeptics that consider video blogging as a kind of simply sharing too much; personal facts get sometimes posted for everyone to see. This can be indeed a real problem, but people are not always aware of all the consequences of sharing something. Some people even shared pictures proving that they were being dishonest and were perhaps quite surprised when it fired back and they suffered the consequences. This kind of exposure is rather hard to ignore, so it is better to think well in advance of what you want to share.

Of course, not all video bloggers are simply, or perhaps, desperately searching for attention. Expressing oneself is a natural and even good thing to do. The important thing is how you go about it and how deep you search within yourself to find what you want to express. At its best, video blogging can be great, inspiring, educational, entertaining, or all of them combined. Unfortunately, sometimes video blogging is just another means of creating misunderstandings and things might even turn bad such as in the case of lonelygirl15. The thing is that people can only guess the intentions behind what they see, and sometimes they might believe that people like Chris Crocker are just acting for the sake of it. After all, you choose what you put online, and most people would rather not share their hysterical and embarrassing moments. The problem is, of course, to get to see them for what they are before it is too late and the whole world has seen them.

While it is our discretion what videos are going to upload in the web, may it be for entertainment or marketing purposes, note that we are held responsible for those video blogs. At times, this concern on video blogging is being taken for granted, but this issue is something we should all address, especially if it is not our video or we do not have the necessary consent to upload such video. Not all videos uploaded come clean, as others, how scandalous they may be, were uploaded to take advantage of the video's knack to perk the interest of the audience. Responsibility is a must in blogging, much more when it concerns videos of other people.

Video blogging is more than just expressing oneself. It is a very efficient way of communicating and creating impact. What you decide to communicate and what kind of impact you make with it is however entirely up to you to decide.
