Why the New England Patriots Could Easily Win the Super BowlBY: TDH Graham | Category: Entertainment | Submitted: 2011-12-04 10:42:04
People have watched the Packers this year, and wondered- "Who can beat them? And don't say Patriots, they have no defense at all." I am here to tell you that this is not true. The Patriots have a defense that has been performing. The thing that the announcers say all the time is how the Patriots are last in the NFL in defense, and that they cannot make it through the playoffs with such a weak defense. Last overall, and last in pass defense. But the Patriots are a much better team than anyone thinks. One thing that people have noticed is the decline of Devin McCourty. Last season he had seven interceptions, one behind Ed Reed for the NFL tops. But this year, he has none. The reason for this is that the Patriots were playing much more zone defense. And the opposing offense would just throw it to the sideline repeatedly for twenty yards, over and over again. The Patriots have finally changed it midway through the season, to more man defense. And look at what has happened. The Patriots defense has launched itself up. They have shut down some pretty good offenses, and look for them to blow out the Colts today, of course. The Patriots are a good team. The offense is hitting it's stride again, and the defense is as well. They are the team that can compete with the Packers. And recently they have been playing without their only two really good defensive backs, Devin McCourty and Patrick Chung. But Kyle Arrington leads the league in interceptions, and the Patriots this year will be the team everyone discards and ignores, until they go deep into the playoffs. The Patriots should run the table, and be the number 1 team in the AFC. And I think that they can compete with any team in the league. With Aaron Hernandez, Rob Gronkowski, Wes Welker, and Deion Branch, the Patriots have a highly talented receiving corps. And with Chad Ocho-Cinco getting comfortable in the offense, look out. The Patriots are finally rushing the passer too, and they are getting sacks and pressure, and turnovers. The Patriots will be ignored, because of their last ranked defense, but they are eleventh in the league in points allowed per game with only 20.3, and average only 13.0 in the last three against decent teams. The Patriots have gotten through the hardest part of their schedule, and as long as Tom Brady and the offense does not make mistakes, the Patriots will blow teams away, and fans. I pick them to make it to the Super Bowl, and to be the team to try to stop the Packers from an undefeated season. Just wait and see.
