If you keep on putting today's work on tomorrow you will only pile up the work, which you can never complete. This results in inability to meet deadlines which will surely decrease your reputation.

Maintain quality:

Freelance writing works on the principle of long-term relationship with existing clients. In writing assignments, it is very important to maintain quality to ensure long-term working relationship. If you fail to maintain quality you can't expect regular work from a client which will adversely affect your monthly income stream.

Follow instructions properly:

Write as instructed by the client while maintaining a flow. Mostly the articles published online are meant to draw traffic to a certain website, so put in the instructed keywords properly and manage keyword density issues.

Build up a team:

Key to success in freelance writing career is building up a team. Your team should have professionals from different sectors like finance, computer, medical and others. This will enhance your work scope and enable you to take up and handle different writing assignments. Otherwise, your working scope would be too limited which will restrict your income.

Always deliver work on time:

Working from home might cause delayed submissions if you don't manage your work properly. This is because working in an office is totally different from working from home and inability to manage this difference will result in late submissions. Late submissions will only deteriorate your reputation as a freelance writer. Quality work submitted on time will earn you more clients and high income.

Develop ability to negotiate:

Due to the fact that income of freelance writers depends upon the work; no work means no money, therefore you must be good at negotiations. You should neither be too rigid nor too lenient. Leaving a project for a few dollars is not prudence. Likewise, taking a project on too low pay is also not worthy. So know how to negotiate in a reasonable way to bring up the project price to an acceptable level.

Be focused and motivated:

Sometimes you may feel that working from home is quite boring, especially if you are a woman, since you have to take care of home as well as work, unlike if you go to office in which you can maintain focus. This may demotivate you. Don't let this happen and stay focused. Manage your time and allocate it to every activities, both home tasks as well as writing assignments.
